Fun week! ?? ?? I learned that a lobbyist who doesn’t get paid is called an activist ?? I caught up with a former SWLou champion (more to come) ?? Halloween with my four favorite girls ?? Had multiple conversations about the Louisville and Kentucky ecosystems ??? Spread some flame, tried to blow out others ?? Brick by brick trying to build something better than the status quo — Nakeita Tilford won SWLou 2023. Prior to that competition she had never pitched, but that didn’t keep her from pushing through. Fast forward some months and we’re sitting in The Hub working on a pitch deck for a pitch competition in Atlanta. We get the deck tied off, Nakeita goes to Atlanta, and she WINS that competition, too! Time travel some more months forward and we’re meeting at her new downtown location where she’s getting ready to open a school to begin training and graduating nail technicians. That’s impact. She’s a damn boss who learned to be unafraid of stepping into situations she hasn’t fully figured out yet (a required skill for those looking to start a business). I feel inspired when I think of Nakeita and the hard work she’s put in. Her drive, ambition, and work ethic are contagious and our ecosystem is lucky she stumbled in to SWLou a couple years ago. ??
