One of the unique opportunities of the Startup Colorado Pitch Competition is that finalists will launch a Kiva crowdfunding campaign—but what does that actually mean for your business? Kiva is a zero-interest, zero-fee loan program designed to help small businesses access the capital they need to grow. Unlike traditional bank loans, Kiva loans are crowdfunded by individual lenders who believe in supporting entrepreneurs like you. How Kiva Works: 1. You apply for a Kiva loan as part of the Startup Colorado Pitch Competition. 2. Your network helps kickstart the campaign by lending small (or not-so-small!) amounts to show community support. 3. The Kiva platform opens your loan to a global network of lenders, who contribute in small amounts until your goal is met. 4. You receive the funds and repay the loan over time—with zero interest and flexible terms. We're partnering with Prairie Rose Development, the official Kiva Colorado Hub, to help rural entrepreneurs access and navigate the Kiva crowdfunding process. Prairie Rose acts as the facilitator and lender organizer for Kiva in Colorado, ensuring that business owners get the support they need to launch and manage successful crowdfunding campaigns. Why this matters for you: ??Up to $5,000 in cash from Startup Colorado to kickstart your Kiva campaign. ??Guidance and support from Prairie Rose Development, making the Kiva process smooth and accessible. ??A built-in community of supporters who believe in your business. ??A proven funding model that allows you to raise even more than our cash contribution—because the amount you raise is determined by Kiva’s platform, not by us. ??The best part? This is free money to borrow—and you retain full ownership of your company. We’re using our network to help you fundraise—so instead of just giving you cash, we’re giving you the tools to access even more capital, without diluting your equity or taking on high-interest debt. Are you ready? Apply today and take the first step toward launching your Kiva campaign: https://lnkd.in/erghTkcT

The winter Founder Coopetition // Idea Factory— hosted in partnership with Emergent Campus— just wrapped up, equipping a new cohort of founders with the strategies, connections, and resources to launch and grow their rural businesses. Over four weeks, early-stage entrepreneurs in Fremont County refined their ideas, tackled challenges, and developed action plans tailored to their region. Now, we’re thrilled to introduce the three finalists: ?? Barna Kasa – Antique Hardware Company (Florence) – Building the largest online retailer for antique and vintage hardware. ?? Brock Predovich – BiteZen (Ca?on City) – A smart oral wellness tracker helping users monitor nighttime jaw activity. ?? Zachary Stormant – Stormant Designs (Trinidad) – Providing engineering solutions for the steel industry and expanding into affordable housing. Check out this INCREDIBLE news from Georgia Grace Edwards of Gnara ?? Congratulations on this epic partnership!
Founder & CEO @ Gnara | Inventor of the GoFly Zipper Tech | TEDxTalk & Keynote Speaker | Panelist & Podcast Guest | Fulbright Fellow | Wild Gift Fellow | Futurist Project Fellow | MassChallenge Winner
We did the damn thing! Burton Snowboards x Gnara limited edition drop of bibs featuring our GoFly Technology and compatible base layers is officially LIVE! And that's a sentence I never knew I'd say. As a #founder, I'm notoriously bad at stopping to celebrate (and communicate!) the little wins. This is arguably the biggest milestone for our company thus far -- not to mention major news in 2025 for the snowsports industry in general -- so we're stopping to recognize it! While it was always the plan, I don't think it will ever not blow my mind that our scrappy little team of three full-time employees convinced an absolute titan of industry in an entirely new vertical to not just pay attention to the pee zippers we've been shouting about for years, but to actually tangibly do something about it -- in the form of a co-branded run of a 3-piece kit where GoFly Technology is the focus. This collab proves that functional, performance-driven gear for women isn't niche--it's universal and necessary, and it always has been. But it wouldn't feel genuine if I didn't also share the reality of what it has looked like behind the scenes, because that's another thing we in #entrepreneurship don't do enough. Everything gets glamorized, and we forget that >90% of the time, things like this fail before they even make it to launch. I am grateful that we're here. So while the orders started pouring in at 7am yesterday morning from a waitlist that ended up being almost double the size for which we had aimed, here are some things that were also simultaneously happening #BTS: - a global Slack outage - despite having a 99.99% deliverability rate and a new company record on our launch email, we still somehow ended up in some people's spam - a lot of mixed emotions, as we continue to grieve the loss of our team member, Sarah, who was a snowboarder heavily involved in both the R&D testing and the PR strategy of this launch and tragically died in an avalanche 5 days prior This landing page is beautiful (props to Gabrielle Davis). This is a reminder that most beautiful things in life are really messy, too. As start-up founders and employees, we are constantly holding the highest highs and the lowest lows in the same breath. It is so exciting and it is so exhausting. Cheers to our tiny team for accomplishing the most far-fetched thing we'd ever dreamed up, cheers to Burton for legitimizing the demand we have always known is there, cheers to all of you for supporting this with pre-orders in real time, and cheers to Sarah, who was stoked beyond words about this launch. #ShredTheGnara #OutdoorIndustry #FemaleFounder #Startup
