Stronger is Better.

关于我们

Starting Strength Gyms exist for one reason: to make people strong. There are dozens of fitness products on the market, but none that can reliably make people of all ages significantly stronger, in a short period of time. The process of acquiring strength has a profound impact on both quality of life and health. We do important work. Our job is to enable entrepreneurs and coaches to bring Starting Strength to the general public with the highest standards of quality and execution. The decisions we make affect the health, safety, and happiness of thousands of people. We have very high standards for ourselves and high expectations of each other.

Luke Schroeder spent years climbing the corporate ladder, but something was missing. His pursuit of “health” left him feeling weaker than ever—until he discovered Starting Strength. Strength training changed his life, and now, as the owner of Starting Strength Cincinnati, he’s helping others do the same. From doctors who refuse to accept frailty to a 97-year-old lifter proving it’s never too late, this gym is more than just a place to train—it’s a place where strength changes lives. If you think lifting isn’t for you, this video might change your mind. ?? Watch Luke’s story: https://lnkd.in/gZ-umR-E

  • Josh has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that causes instability and joint problems. His tendons don’t hold things in place well, making walking, standing, and even lying down a challenge. When he started Starting Strength, he weighed 170 lbs and lacked the stability to move without pain. Now at 234 lbs, the weight he’s gained isn’t just size—it’s functional strength that allows him to move confidently and reduce injuries. Strength training isn’t just about lifting weights. It’s about building strength to support better movement and long-term health. Watch Josh's story: https://lnkd.in/etGeDuwr

  • A common issue in the deadlift is failing to pull the slack out of the bar before initiating the lift. Without a rigid back, force doesn’t transfer efficiently, making the movement harder than it should be. John walks JD through the adjustment: ? Set the back by squeezing the chest up and engaging the lats ? Hands lift slightly before pulling ? Listen for the bar to click—confirming full tension This small adjustment improves control and ensures a smoother, more efficient lift. Reinforcing it during warm-ups builds consistency before heavier sets.

  • Josh dealt with severe stomach issues after lead poisoning from a previous job. His body couldn’t figure out what it needed. Eating was unpredictable, and throwing up weekly became his normal. Strength training forced his body to adapt. A couple of months into lifting, he was eating regularly and feeling better. His body finally had a reason to work efficiently. Strength isn’t just about lifting weights—it’s about giving the body the challenge it needs to function at its best. If lifting helped Josh regain his health, imagine what it can do for energy levels, resilience, and long-term well-being. https://lnkd.in/etGeDuwr

  • Josh, a Marine Corps veteran, struggled with hip injuries and instability after training. Walking was painful, physical therapy didn’t help, and staying active only made things worse. After a year of strength training, his stability improved. His knees no longer buckle, his hips feel stronger, and everyday life is easier. The pain hasn’t disappeared completely, but strength training gave him back control over his movement. Strength isn’t just about lifting weights. It’s about building resilience, mobility, and confidence for the long run. Watch Josh's story here: https://lnkd.in/etGeDuwr

  • Josh’s injuries made daily life harder than it needed to be. After serving in the Marine Corps, he struggled with chronic pain, instability, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Walking was painful, physical therapy didn’t help, and staying active made things worse. Then he met Andrew Lewis, a Starting Strength Coach, at Jiu-Jitsu. Josh had always wanted to lift but didn’t know where to start. He gave Starting Strength Indianapolis a shot, and everything changed. A year later, his balance is better, his pain is manageable, and his stomach issues, caused by lead poisoning, have disappeared. With the right coaching and a proven method, Josh found a way to take control of his body. https://lnkd.in/etGeDuwr
