We celebrate the Start.up! Germany Tour 2024 once again – SUGT-Aftermovie is out! ? Although it's already been over two months, great emotions come up again when we look at the pictures. ? 16 startups from 16 countries got to know the business location North Rhine-Westphalia intensively and were brought together with our great regional companies. ? The #highlights in chronological order: ? DAY 1 - Start with the reverse pitch at the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK zu Dortmund): 17 companies from the Ruhr region introduce themselves to our startups - Visit to one of the most beautiful soccer stadiums in the world - the Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund - THE GRAND FINAL at NRW.BANK: Our start-ups competed against each other in front of 140 spectators on site and several hundred more in the livestream ? DAY 2 - In masterclasses at EY, intensive rounds focus on topics such as #financing and #due #diligence - Also at EY, all important multipliers of the #NRW #innovation #ecosystem come by and give insights into their work and networks - Vodafone provides insights into its global innovations and collaboration with start-ups ? DAY 3 - ZINQ shows us how innovative industry is in the Ruhr region - We got an insight into the Innovation District Mark 51 - At ruhrHUB, our guests were able to see how the startup scene in the Ruhr area works - At the invitation of the Essen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK zu Essen), the reception at the #Ruhrtower was the perfect end to an outstanding tour ? Start.up! Germany Tour leads to sustainable connections! ? We were delighted that Abdelhamid LARBI and Axel Becker from the French startup DistrictLab Eu visited #Dortmund again this week! ? The Start.up! Germany Tour creates numerous connections and business contacts in #NRW/Germany. And so the two had the great opportunity to take part in a program organized by the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK zu Dortmund) and the Dortmund Economic Development Agency (Wirtschaftsf?rderung Dortmund) as part of the European Football Championship and not only to attend the match between #France and #Poland, but also to deepen their contacts with local companies. ? In addition to the many highlights, the discussions with the companies Wilo Group and Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH (DEW21) were particularly interesting. What an evening - we are still overwhelmed! ?? Last night, our GRAND FINAL took place at the NRW.BANK. With 150 invited guests on-site and hundreds of viewers in the live stream, our 16 finalists had the opportunity to present their impressive solutions to make the world a more sustainable, more innovative and more inclusive place! After intense deliberations, our jury decided to crown these startups the winners: ?? Special price for sustainability, sponsored by NRW.BANK: AgroGrIN Tech and Débora Campos, a startup from Portugal that upcycles fruit & vegetable side streams coming from farmers, post-harvesting and processing companies. ?? 3rd place: Glycanostics, Ltd. with their CEO Eva Kovacova FCCA, from Slovakia, who have developed highly accurate, early-stage tests for detection of 11 types of cancer. ?? 2nd place: Elven Technologies and Vamekh Kherkheulidze from Georgia develop a flexible fireproof composite, that ensures safety in the age of electrification. And the winner is... ?? dotLumen - Empowering the Blind from Romania with their founder and CEO Cornel Amariei who are pioneering AI-based pedestrian autonomous mobility, that empowers visually impaired people to safely navigate in different surroundings. The jury also decided to give out a spontaneous special price to CraftPlanet_Ltd from Nigeria who will get free support and mentoring from xdeck for their innovative solution to plastic pollution.
