Nonprofit Founder, Coach, & Entrepreneur ?????? I post content that helps godly women take control of their personal lives & professional careers.

99% of parents go to work to provide for their small kids. 1% find work that frees up time to provide AND be more available for their small kids. Here's how some of them do it: - No full time jobs that demand 40+ hours. - No second jobs that require trading even more time for money. - Working part time & building a side hustle until that side hustle becomes full time income. These aren't just requirements. They're honest decisions about your family needs. Because these parents know: Once your children grow up, you’ll never get that time back. For various reasons, some children require attention that is best provided by the parents, not a daycare. Choosing to consider your family for your next career change isn't selfish. It's how you maintain your ability to: - Support them - Financially contribute in a way that feels good and authentic to you - Build something that transcends the generations that come AFTER your kids Let me tell you something real… The best career decision you'll ever make is one that allows you to have it all. When I was 15 years old, I had a dream to pursue on a specific career… And I achieved that dream. But back in 2018, after becoming pregnant with my daughter, I realized that dream changed... And I pushed it down for YEARS. I’ve never regretted making different career choices after having kids, no matter how hard it was. But I DO regret how long I waited to really do something about it. So if you want to make a career change for this very same reason, take my advice: Just do it. Find a way to get it done. No more heavy work weeks. No more second, third, and fourth jobs. No more sacrificing your health to make ends meet. Just freedom to support your small kids AND make an income in a way that still feels good to YOU. That one decision can transform many generations to come. Ready to take back control of your personal and professional life? Subscribe to my newsletter called “Generations Transformed,” where I share all the tips on: * Career pivots that blend passion with parenting schedules * Flexible work strategies to attend every school event and sports game * Turning skills into remote careers or businesses that thrive alongside family life * Balancing motherhood with professional ambition – without guilt Join other women who’ve transformed their careers to love both family time and their jobs. Spain has set a new standard for parental leave, allowing single parents the same amount of paid leave as couples. The decision came after a court in southeastern Spain concluded that newborns’ needs are equal, regardless of their parental structure. Silvia Pardo Moreno, a single mother, noticed her daughter was the only child in daycare at just 16 weeks old—while children of couples had the benefit of 32 weeks of parental leave. She argued that every child deserves the same time to bond with a parent, regardless of family structure, and that single parents should receive equal paid leave to make that possible. Though a local court initially ruled against her, Pardo refused to back down. She appealed to the higher Murcia court—and won. This is a huge win for single parents, as this new policy will grant them the same time, resources, and opportunity to care for their newborn as two-parent households. Spain joins other countries like Germany, Finland, and Sweden who have similar policies in place, and give lawmakers in the US another family-first example to consider, as it remains one of the only high-income countries in the world without a federal paid parental leave policy in place.

Kids are naturally curious and brimming with energy, constantly seeking ways to explore and understand the world around them. Limiting screen time unlocks their creativity and allows their innate curiosity to flourish. Instead of passively consuming content, children engage more in active play, problem-solving, and hands-on activities that enhance their physical, cognitive, and emotional development. They discover the joy of building, drawing, or exploring nature, fostering a deeper connection with their surroundings and people. With fewer distractions, they develop better focus, communication skills, and an increased appreciation for real-world experiences, paving the way for healthier growth and learning.

Sweden’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, recently proposed an unusual solution to our low birth rates: instead of more plausible solutions; he suggests that Swedes should work longer, particularly as they age. But is that really the only solution? In Sweden, we already have some of the world’s most generous parental leave policies—up to 480 days per child, shared between both parents. Yet, birth rates are at historic lows, and no other plausible solutions are on offer. Why? Parental leave alone isn’t enough. Here are some factors worth considering: 1. Economic Pressures: High living costs, housing expenses, and childcare add significant pressure, even with paid leave. Economic security is a major factor for families, and rising costs may be making parenthood less accessible. 2. Career and Lifestyle Priorities: Many women, in particular, are focused on career growth and personal development. Taking extended leave—even with support—can impact career progression, leading some to delay or even forgo having children. 3. Shifting Social Norms: People’s values around family size are changing. Environmental concerns, lifestyle flexibility, and personal choices all play a role, with younger generations often choosing fewer children or none at all. 4. Gender Inequality in Caretaking: Despite Sweden’s push for shared parental leave, women still shoulder most of the responsibility, often taking more leave than men. This can reinforce traditional gender roles and add a burden that impacts family planning. 5. Mental and Emotional Health Needs: Raising children is mentally and emotionally demanding. Neurodivergent individuals or those focused on mental well-being may find existing support systems lacking, making family life feel like a heavy undertaking. Without addressing these factors, Sweden’s parental leave policies, however generous, aren’t likely to drive up birth rates. It’s time to look at the conversation more nuanced and explore solutions that go beyond “work-first” strategies or simply extending work life. Families—and potential families—need real support in a variety of areas to feel secure in growing. What other factors do you think contribute to low birth rates, despite supportive policies? #Sweden #ParentalLeave #LowBirthRates #EconomicChallenges #GenderEquality #WorkLifeBalance #CareerDevelopment #MentalHealth #FamilySupport

  • This is a very interesting concept. I began thinking about it years ago while on a playground watching as my daughter and another daughter were climbing high up on a jungle gym. I was nervous while the other girl's father asked his child "do you feel safe". This interaction informed my approach to parenting and risk taking for children. My approach aligns very much with this concept...

Racial & LGBTQ+ Workplace Trauma Researcher, Coach, & Therapist

Once upon a time, I was a pregnant worker whose baby was poisoned by my toxic job. The new hire smiling below, never imagined the nightmare awaiting us... I am sharing this story to protect other babies from workplace abuse. Please be kind in the comments, this is painful stuff, even several years later. I avoided deli meat, soft cheese, & sushi, took daily walks & expensive prenatal vitamins, only to have my baby injured by work-stress hormones. I attended every prenatal appointment. No one ever asked if I was being abused at work. I was a new employee who'd never worked in a toxic job & naively excused abusive colleagues as rude & jealous, but otherwise harmless. They told me they wanted to be Latina (they are white) & had been unable to become pregnant themselves. Deep pain that was not mine to tend to. I tried to avoid them by changing projects & steering clear at company events. I had no idea how dangerous they could become in a toxic workplace that forces employees against one another for company profit like Squid Games or Gladiators. I overworked while pregnant due to impossible work demands & advocated for my team in a company that exploited & gaslit us with platitudes of being "a family" that values diversity. Just hold on they'd say, this period of extreme workload will end. My OB found a problem requiring weekly “baby stress tests." I developed pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, & had an emergency C-section. I was unable to take full maternity leave due to workload & workplace sabotage. I was so exhausted & dazed from 60 hr workweeks while raising an infant, that I could not see what is now obvious in hindsight. My workplace bully was organizing peers, supervisors, & my own team against me, to form a mob and a final career kill shot. I will never forget the terror I felt the day I was unlawfully terminated. I never imagined that the employer I had sacrificed so much for, would fire me. The devastation of institutional betrayal resulted in trauma that undermined my ability to attune to my baby. Instead of locking eyes and gentle caresses while nursing, I sobbed and stared blankly into space. Dr. Gabor Mate explains in “The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness and Healing in a Toxic Culture,” that chronic stress of pregnant & nursing workers is associated with the following injuries to babies: -language development problems -BMI and obesity -insulin secretion issues -immune system problems -lowered IQ -asthma -reduced ability to respond to stress. After spending thousands of dollars on various therapies for my baby, he is recovering but many babies are not so lucky. I am interviewing workers whose babies were injured by workplace abuse in utero or infancy to raise awareness about this underdiscussed issue. If you would like to share your story, please send me a DM. Please share this post to spread awareness!
