This is NOT a picture of our #ExpoWest booth. This is actually a shot of our booth from 6 years ago at the Fancy Food show, one of the last major trade shows we attended. The double-whammy of COVID followed by a volatile 2 years of egg prices led us to shelve our sampling tongs and focus on our products. While we weren’t able to travel to Southern California and share our deliciously revamped Waffle Sliders with the #CPG world, we’re extremely proud of what we’ve created. At some point we’ll be back in the booth cracking jokes and slinging sliders, but until then, we hope you can give our new flavors a try. We've been hard at work behind the scenes creating new recipes and new products that are just starting to hit store shelves in this new year. We're extremely proud of our new recipes, especially our new Sausage & Cheese Waffle Sliders! However, it certainly has been quite the journey to get to where we are today. A Tale of 7 Boxes This is a tutorial: How not to design CPG packaging. You know that feeling when a social media memory pops up where your teenage self is spouting nonsensical faux pas with such gusto, followed by an endless series of acronyms, LOL? Yeah, that’s pretty close to the feeling I had when arranging the entire catalog of Start Right packaging in one discomforting image.?*Cringe* But alas, lessons abound. I’m sure there are teachable moments – and even redeemable portions – of our tactless internet past-selves. I, for one, continue to take the easy way out and delete most of my embarrassing posts. However, it’s not so simple - or beneficial - to ignore the “sins” of our packaging history. So, just for fun, once a day for a week I’m going to post the evolution of Start Right boxes. Starting with our very first Belgian Waffles, I’ll share what we got right, and what we learned as we stumbled along our CPG journey. Hope you enjoy the ride.
