?? STAR IDAZ is holding an in-person, one day One Health funding workshop at ILRI 12-13 March. We aim to build upon the great work of the STAR IDAZ One Health working group and the Mapping One Health (https://lnkd.in/e-JfJdHg) report they produced by bringing together researchers, resource partners, programme owners and funding organisations. Together we hope to develop practical recommendations to help improve available funding mechanisms for One Health research and implementation. By thinking broadly One Health researchers and practitioners might be able to access different sources of funding in ways they had previously not considered or been aware of.

? STAR IDAZ IRC, in collaboration with UK-ICN, is delighted to announce the development of research roadmaps on coronaviruses to highlight areas where research effort needs to be focused in order to speed up the delivery of improved control methods for coronavirus outbreaks for the benefit of both human and animal health. These are now available on the website with the Executive Summary and Workshop Report (https://lnkd.in/eCc4_Rua). In the development of research roadmaps for 1) epidemiology and disease control strategies, 2) diagnostic tests development, and 3) candidate vaccines development, a number of areas have been highlighted including: Understanding of socio-economic drivers for disease emergence; Understanding the effect of climate changes and the wildlife trade for disease emergence; Development of panCoV detection assays; Species independent serological test platforms; and Improvement of affordability, delivery methods and long-term immunity of next generation vaccines. The #SCAR Animal Health and Welfare CWG held its annual plenary meeting from 9-10th December 2024 in Rome, with the possibility of online participation for members unable to attend in person. The aim of the meeting was to consolidate the European network with authorities, policy makers, funders, experts and private partners with a strong interest in animal health and animal welfare in the EU and beyond. The first day was dedicated to the meetings of the two subgroups of the CWG (Animal Welfare subgroup and Strategy & Foresight Unit), which ended with a joint sequence for the first time to optimise discussion within the CWG. The plenary meeting was held on the second day, and the following presentations, related to technical and scientific issues, were recorded and are now available online:? ?? - European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare - Nathalie Vanderheijden & Véronique Rebholtz ?? - Introduction to SCAR FISH - Andrea Marsella ?? - Diagnostics of virosis - Antonio Lavazza ?? - Artificial Intelligence in animal health research - Alasdair Cook ?? https://lnkd.in/ez_a5-93 Hein Imberechts Scott Sellers Andrea Gyorffy Bagni Marina Alain Boissy Romano Zilli Hermann Schobesberger EUPAHW AnimalhealthEurope European Commission Foodscale Hub STAR IDAZ International Research Consortium on Animal Health World Organisation for Animal Health ICRAD - International Coordination of Research on infectious Animal Disease

By the end of 2021 I joined the World Organisation for Animal Health after more than 20 years dedicated to R&D, mostly in human health. It was by then that I learned about the existence of an international #research consortium on #animal health: STAR-IDAZ - https://www.star-idaz.net/ This consortium, gathering research funders and programme owners, is unfortunately not so much known, and coordinates research at the international level for at least 30 priority diseases/infections/issues, including #AMR. Their 2024 state of the art report, providing an overview of opportunities to speed up research and to boost collaboration in the sector. https://lnkd.in/dP8-MwuS Do you want to know more about it?
