This Fall, local university student Paytan led 15 friends in making blankets for our resident children and writing lovely notes for our resident mothers. Thank you friends, and thank you Paytan!! The warm spirit of your gift will comfort and encourage St. Ann's Center families this winter and holiday season.

On November 13, St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families was awarded a grant at The Congressional Baseball Game for Charity's Grants Reception! Sister Nancy Downing, CEO, and Ellen Toups, Manager, Annual Giving and Corporate Relations, were there to represent St. Ann's Center and accept the grant. Thank you, Congressional Sports for Charity, for generously supporting our mission through this grant. We are honored to be among the organizations supported through this year's game! *** About the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity: "Over the last century, the Congressional Baseball Game’s popularity has contributed to its evolution into a foundation called Congressional Sports for Charity. Thank you for being one of the kind people who support the families healing, stabilizing, and growing to independence through St. Ann's programs. We are especially grateful for you during #HungerAndHomelessnessAwarenessWeek! *** Held each year the week before Thanksgiving, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week "is designed to educate the public, draw attention to the problem of poverty, and build up the base of volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies. Groups spend this week generating publicity about hunger and homelessness and holding a series of events to engage their communities." (Source: https://hhweek.org) #HHWeek #HHWeek2024

This #GivingTuesday, we invite you to help support families at St. Ann's Center through our annual "Give Your Cup" campaign. The idea is simple: for less than the cost of a daily coffee, you can positively impact the families healing, stabilizing, and growing to independence through St. Ann's programs. A cup of coffee is so much more than a warm drink. It also symbolizes care, connection, and even hope! Here's how you can give these same gifts to mothers and their children at St. Ann's: https://lnkd.in/eftFJKUR

We had a great time meeting folks at @NOAA's CFC Charity Fair this week! Anastasia Sissamis, our Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, represented St. Ann's and enjoyed speaking with NOAA team members about our mission and the difference that #CFC makes for our programs and the clients we work alongside. Thank you for having us, NOAA!

Therapeutic, interactive group activities are an important part of our Teen Mother & Baby Program! Recently, social work intern Sutton Vaughn (MSW student, National Catholic School of Social Service) facilitated a dynamic session on "Building a Growth Mindset" for our Teen Mother clients. Sutton (pictured) gave a dynamic presentation about the important differences between a "growth mindset" and a "fixed mindset." Sutton then facilitated a reflective group activity: painting personal canvases that beautifully represented each mother's unique journey of growth (Client artworks pictured). The flowers, hearts, and trees symbolize the blooming and progress they have achieved in their lives. Each mother penned words of affirmation on her canvas, encouraging a commitment to positive thoughts in the face of adversity and challenges. Thank you Sutton, for leading this impactful exercise and helping our Teen Mother participants recognize and visualize how far they have come!

Therapeutic, interactive group activities are an important part of our Teen Mother & Baby Program! Recently, social work intern Nicole Nkemateh (MSW student, University of Kentucky College of Social Work) facilitated an amazing session on Positive Affirmations for our Teen Mother clients. Nicole (pictured) led a group discussion on self-embrace and self-acceptance - utilizing illustrations, examples, and interactive activities to foster holistic connection among participants. Following reflective dialogue, the mothers transitioned to an art-based activity using their own words of positive affirmation that reinforce the nuance and truth of who they are (Client artworks pictured here). Thank you Nicole, for planning this heartfelt exercise and helping promote growth and emotional well-being among the mothers participating in this session!

Our Child Care Center staff put on an amazing Harvest Celebration today! Parents and their children bonded over carnival games, yummy autumn treats (like pumpkin muffins and cranberry orange scones), bean bag toss, and even a friendly sack race competition! All while in costume! We are grateful and proud of our Child Care Center team, for planning today's event and creating this opportunity for parents and their children to make lifelong memories. Thank you, everyone! *** Our Child Care Center plays a critical role in St. Ann's Center's overall mission and our vision: "A world where all women and their children have a loving home and thrive as a family."
