During a year-long residency as the inaugural Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability visiting artist, Mark Baugh-Sasaki created two pieces in partnership with Mehr Kumar, a life sciences researcher in the Oceans Department. The installation encourages viewers to reflect on human impact and restoration in the Southern Ocean due to 20th century industrial whaling.
