Meet Jessi, one of our Family Specialists from our Community-Based Family Services program in El Dorado County. She is currently pursuing a BA in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University and is on track to receive her degree next semester. Prior to joining the SSYAF team, she worked as an intervention specialist for eight years, serving rural and underprivileged K-8 students. Jessi has been able to apply her own lived experience with navigating her mental health challenges as a youth and as a mother of a special needs child to help many of the clients she serves. Her personal experience has driven her passion and commitment to be an advocate for mental health, especially among youth. Fun fact: Jessi is an artist and partners with local schools to create large scale murals that inspire youth and raise awareness about mental health. While visiting the Crocker Art Museum, one of our mentors had the wonderful idea to ask if they would support the Wonder Mentoring Program by donating tickets, allowing other matches to enjoy the museum experience.
