It’s exciting to see our Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education partnering with the Stanford University School of Engineering’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics to train U.S. Air Force test pilots! We were pleased to support, academic director Marco Pavone with this Test of AI & Emerging Technologies course for the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School students, focusing on AI-enabled system design, testing, and control. Students explored deep learning, decision-making algorithms, and robotic perception, even programming autonomous TurtleBots for some friendly competition. They also engaged with industry experts from NVIDIA and a former National Highway Traffic Safety Administration administrator. This initiative equips our military professionals with cutting-edge skills for the future of defense operations. Just wrapped an incredible trip to Gurgaon, India visiting Stanford alums and attending the ASU+GSV & Emeritus Summit (second time!) with colleagues from around the globe. It was clear that India’s sheer scale and the complexity of the ecosystem present an immense challenge and opportunity to address the challenges of access, affordability, and adaptability. We are excited to announce AI for Industrial Technology (AI2T)—an executive education program in artificial intelligence (AI) designed specifically for senior executives and decision-makers in the industrial, semiconductor, and consumer sectors. Presented by Ayna in collaboration with the Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education, the AI2T program will draw on cutting-edge AI research from Stanford faculty to provide insights into the latest advancements in the field and empower leaders to leverage AI within their businesses. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Honors Cooperative Program (HCP), Stanford’s part-time, flexible master’s degree program. The evening began with a thought-provoking faculty panel on the future of #AI, followed by a mixer and a panel discussion led by Professor Thomas Kenny, where HCP alums Shoba Rao, Mike Kramer, and Ming Luo shared their experiences and career insights. We presented the inaugural James Gibbons Faculty Award to School of Engineering Dean Jennifer Widom, in recognition of her dedication to teaching students beyond the Stanford campus, and honored by Professor Emeritus James Gibbons’ and other distinguished leaders’ presence at the event. For 70 years, Stanford Online’s Honors Cooperative Program (HCP) has enabled working professionals to earn a master’s degree part-time without leaving their jobs or relocating to campus. Students in the HCP program earn the same degree as full-time residential students. Originally born out of an industry need in the 1950s, HCP has continued to evolve, taking a major turn in the 1990s when Stanford Engineering used satellite technology to broadcast a five-hour program to institutions across the country. Today, HCP continues to meet the needs of learners wherever they are in their careers and in the world, with the infrastructure in place to readily support remote and hybrid education.
