Our vision is to see every child thrive from the start
关于我们
Our vision is to see every child thrive from the start, and that begins with the contexts in which the child is living—the families, educators, and communities that surround them. The Stanford Center on Early Childhood is uniquely positioned to support, accelerate, and implement strategies that address structural disparities and foster alliances across communities, academic institutions, funders, advocates, and policymakers. We aim to promote child development and assure equity as well as increase the omnidirectional flow of information in the early childhood sector.

As part of its work, RAPID asks caregivers in California about their experiences with extreme weather and its relationship to family well-being and economic circumstances. The data show that extreme weather is an issue affecting California families with young children across all income levels, races, ethnicities, and geographic locations. Across the state, and indeed across the country, parents of young children are facing challenges posed by unpredictable and extreme weather. These challenges threaten the well-being and development of young children and families. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gU5YDPBc

The New Ecology of Early Childhood is the framework that will guide our Center moving forward. Authors Philip Fisher and Joan Lombardi have identified four areas of critical importance—the ways in which contemporary conditions are impacting the ecosystems of young children in unprecedented ways: ??The Persistence of Poverty and Inequality ??Time Spent in Childcare and Other Non-Familial Settings ??Global Climate Change ??The Rise of Digital Technology While there are no simple answers to addressing the fast-changing and complex nature of modern society on its youngest children, they also offer five recommendations for public and private action: ?Elevate Parent and Provider Voices to Raise Awareness ?Promote New Multigenerational Programming ?Create Community Connections and Infrastructure ?Develop Policies that Invest and Support Child and Caregiver Well-being ?Accelerate Innovation and Research Let’s start a conversation. ??
