Professor Jelena Obradovi? in the Stanford University Graduate School of Education is seeking Stanford undergraduates to assist with research projects focused on understanding children's development in two key areas: (1) social-emotional skills and (2) learning-related skills. Research assistants will receive an $8,000 stipend, with up to $1,500 for need-based situations through the office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and will be expected to work full time (35+ hours/week for 10 weeks). As part of its work, RAPID asks caregivers in California about their experiences with extreme weather and its relationship to family well-being and economic circumstances. The data show that extreme weather is an issue affecting California families with young children across all income levels, races, ethnicities, and geographic locations. Across the state, and indeed across the country, parents of young children are facing challenges posed by unpredictable and extreme weather. We are looking for preschool and kindergarten teachers in the U.S. who have worked at their organization for at least one year to participate in an interview study. The goal is to explore how young children talk about their bodies, weight, and health, as well as how educators experience mealtime and playtime interactions in early childhood settings.
