New Research: Best IV Treatments for Shivering After C-Section Why it matters: More than half of patients who have a C-section with neuraxial anesthesia experience shivering. Despite many studies, there is no clear agreement on the best treatment. This study, co-authored by Stanford’s Dr. Pervez Sultan, compares IV medications to find the most effective option. What they found: A review of 20 clinical trials (1,983 patients) tested different IV treatments for shivering. The most effective were: ?Dexmedetomidine (worked best overall) ?Tramadol ?Nalbuphine ?Meperidine ?Dexmedetomidine also helped the fastest, reduced shivering from coming back, and caused less nausea in patients. The bottom line: This study highlights dexmedetomidine as the most effective IV treatment for shivering after a C-section. More research can help confirm the best guidelines for patient care. Imagine this: You're under anesthesia, drifting into a dream. In this dream, you relive a painful experience—but this time, there's no fear. You find peace. Stanford researchers Dr. Harrison Chow and Dr. Boris Heifets are unlocking the power of these anesthesia-induced dreams to help people heal from trauma. This innovative approach could transform how we treat PTSD and mental health. https://hubs.ly/Q0372H3j0
