Thank you to the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and Standing Firm for hosting the powerful 2024 Supporting Survivors Summit last month. The Summit explored emerging issues around the topic of domestic violence, ignited discussions, and helped to shape a future of empowerment and support. YWCA Greater Pittsburgh CEO Dr. Angela Reynolds spoke with Megan Rose, Program Director of Standing Firm, while attending impactful sessions on the medical, economic, and legal aspects of cultivating a climate for survivors to heal and thrive. YWCA GP board member Dr. Maya Indira Ragavan, Associate Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Research at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pediatrics, also hosted a critical session on "Emerging Research, Accelerating Practice in Healing-Centered Engagement." Thank you to the hosting organizations and speakers for creating this incredibly necessary space. ??

We had such an amazing time last Friday at our 2024 Supporting Survivors Summit. Many thanks to everyone who made it such a huge success, including our sponsors, presenters, attendees, inspiring keynote speakers, and our gracious hosts, the Regional Learning Alliance and Conference Center. Nearly 150 guests enjoyed a wide variety of educational sessions, engaging conversations, and networking. Our hope is that everyone left with new information on how to further support survivors and create spaces of empowerment. Thank you all for an incredible day of learning and connection!

No victim of domestic violence should be forced to stay trapped in a lease that jeopardizes their safety. HB 1441 will provide victims the ability to leave an unsafe, unlivable environment without dire economic consequences. This will further victims’ chances of securing housing stability and economic self-sufficiency and as a result, it will save lives. Right now, this critical piece of legislation is being held up in the state senate. Survivors need you to tell your state senator to bring HB 1441 to a vote now! https://lnkd.in/eKQbUSB8
