Stand.earth challenges corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect.
关于我们
Stand.earth challenges corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect, because our lives depend on it. Stand.earth is an advocacy organization made up of people challenging governments and corporations to make the health of our communities, our environment, and our climate the top priority. We are also #4 on Fast Company's 2023 list of Most Innovative Nonprofits. We protect the forests and the stable climate required to keep our planet — and us — thriving. Our campaigns challenge destructive corporate and governmental practices, demand accountability, and create solutions that support all of us, and the environment and climate we depend upon. We recognize and respect the sovereignty of First Nations and tribes, as well as the rights of indigenous people and frontline communities. These communities are often first and most directly impacted — and provide critical leadership in developing solutions.

A new study finds that California’s restrictions on toxic chemicals like PFAS in consumer products has been proven effective — the population’s body levels were reduced for 37 chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, reproductive harm and other health issues. “It suggests a tangible public health payoff from the state’s more stringent environmental regulations,” said Claudia Polsky, director of the Environmental Law Clinic at UC Berkeley School of Law, and a study co-author. https://lnkd.in/g_m3BRYT

“No one has called for this. Builders haven’t called for this. Businesses haven’t called for this. The public hasn’t called for this. It just doesn’t make sense.” — Stand.earth Climate Campaigner, Sunil Singal on a push by some Vancouver City Councillors to allow gas in new buildings. https://lnkd.in/eSWjnS8j Video: CityNews

🗳️ Vote YES on a shareholder resolution to demand Microsoft disclose the risks of its ties to the #fossilfuel industry and prioritize true #ResponsibleAI! 🌍 👇 👇 👇 https://lnkd.in/eWV3pY-j #Sustainability #Microsoft #AI #ClimateAction #GreenTech #ResponsibleAI #BigTech

🗳️We need AI transparency - vote today🗳️ As federal sustainability policies in the U.S. face uncertain times to say the least, holding corporations #accountable has never been more urgent—for employees, communities, and shareholders alike. Microsoft has deep ties to the #fossilfuel industry, supporting technologies that lead to vast increases in global emissions – orders of magnitude more than the emissions from the datacenters that power them – putting both the planet and the company’s long-term value at risk. That’s why we’ve filed a shareholder resolution with As You Sow asking the company to disclose the operational, reputational, and financial risks associated with these activities. #Transparency is a critical first step toward change. And while Microsoft will point to their #ResponsibleAI and #Energyprinciples, these policies fall short of addressing the core issues, rendering them both ineffective and misleading. 🌍 If you’re a Microsoft shareholder, you can take action. ✅ Voting is open now: Take 2 minutes to vote YES on our resolution by December 9th. Your voice makes a difference. https://lnkd.in/gYnmCs5s Read more about the resolution and why it’s so important here: https://lnkd.in/gfSJ_6S5 #AI #ResponsibleAI #Sustainability #CSR #CorporateSocialResponsibility #ESG #AdvancedTechnology #artificialintelligence #IoT #BigTech #BigOil #OilandGas #energytransition #RenewableEnergy #regulation #righttowarn #transparency #climate #climatecatastrophe #science #microsoft #Azure #AzureAI #OpenAI #AI #generativeAI #upstream #energy #greenwashing #climate #GPT #GPT4 #chatGPT Will Alpine Greenpeace 350.orgAI Now Institute Amy Westervelt ClimateVoice Bill Weihl Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative Friends of the Earth Hugging Face Stand.earth Public Citizen Sunrise Movement WorkforClimate Green Web Foundation Melanie Nakagawa

After the removal of the dam on the Klamath River, Chinook salmon are returning home to spawn in the creeks that were blocked to them for generations. #goodclimatenews “Seeing salmon spawning above the former dams fills my heart,” said Joseph L James, chairman of the Yurok Tribe. “Our salmon are coming home. Klamath Basin tribes fought for decades to make this day a reality because our future generations deserve to inherit a healthier river from the headwaters to the sea.” Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/evWY6TzB
