One of the most effective ways you can fight deforestation, protect wildlife, empower communities & curb climate change.

关于我们

Stand For Trees tackles deforestation at its core –?by preventing mature, resilient trees from being chopped down. Our projects protect 4.5 million hectares of tropical forests and prevent 700 million tonnes of carbon emissions; improve quality of life for over a million people, including local and indigenous communities; and safeguard unique ecosystems and thousands of endangered species. We use REDD+, a pay-for-performance model that requires independent, third-party verification and which only rewards success. With us, anyone can save forests and heal the climate.

More than a third of the world’s #tree species are threatened with #extinction, according to the first comprehensive assessment of trees by the world’s leading scientific authority on the status of species. ?? The findings, announced earlier this week, are especially sobering given the amount of life that trees sustain. Countless species of other plants, animals and fungi rely on forest ecosystems. Trees are also fundamental to regulating water, nutrients and planet-warming #carbon. The tree assessment is considered comprehensive because it includes more than 80% of known tree species. ?Now more than ever, it’s critical that we step up for the trees that sustain us all. Whether through conservation, restoration, or support for organizations working tirelessly on the ground, we each have a role to play. #StandForTrees

Orchids, bromeliads, and ferns are common examples of epiphytes, living high in the canopy to catch more light. Epiphytes absorb water from rain and moisture in the air—through their roots or specialized leaf hairs adapted to capture humidity. They gather nutrients from small bits of organic debris or soil particles blown in on the wind. These 'air plants' create micro-habitats, adding incredible diversity to the forest!

The Amazon is facing its worst fire season in two decades. Over 62,000 square kilometers of rainforest have burned this year—an area larger than Sri Lanka or Costa Rica. These fires, largely set by human activity, are turning the Amazon from a vital carbon absorber into a major carbon emitter. Indigenous communities like the Caititu are directly impacted, battling fires that have ravaged their land for over 15 days. As the fires intensify, so does the risk to their health, homes, and the ecosystem we all depend on. Urgent action is needed to protect the Amazon before it's too late. #climateaction #climatecrisis #conservation

Yes, protecting forests can be a more effective and immediate solution for reducing carbon emissions than relying solely on technology. Forests serve as crucial carbon sinks, naturally absorbing and storing significant amounts of CO2. While technological solutions like carbon capture are promising, they are still in development. In contrast, conserving and restoring forests offer a proven, cost-effective, and scalable approach to combating climate change. Moreover, forest protection supports biodiversity and benefits local communities, making it a comprehensive strategy for environmental and social impact. #ForestConservation #ClimateAction #CarbonReduction #Sustainability
