On March 6, 2025, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals issued a must-read election law opinion declining to toss out three unendorsed ballots cast in a Rock County election. And, in a rare move, the court imposed sanctions on the losing candidate’s attorney for filing a frivolous appeal. An important update to Wisconsin election law, #Attorneys Carly Gerads, Zoe Pawlisch, and Doug Poland discuss last week's #Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Wisconsin Elections Commission. The Court ruled that Kenneth Brown, a voter who raised a number of claims challenging the use of #absentee ballot sites during the August 2022 primary #election, lacked standing to seek judicial review of the Wisconsin Elections Commission’s decision dismissing his complaint. Read more in our most recent blog post, including what it means to be “aggrieved by an order” from WEC under Wis. Stat. §?5.06(8) and thus permitted to seek judicial review. https://lnkd.in/gDJqhcTv
