Jennifer Donaldson, P.E., VP of Operational Controls, has spent over 25 years in the heavy construction industry. Her expertise and work ethic has led to transformative projects in communities across the country, including segments of Brightline's first alignment in Florida. Katie Nance, our Corporate Safety Director, has helped shape the strong safety culture of our company over her 19 years with us. Her leadership has had a direct effect on the success of our safety program, as evidenced by the company’s stellar safety performance. Kathryn La Chapelle is currently a Project Manager for Major On-Call services for DART, successfully executing repairs, rehabilitations, and improvements with quick turnarounds. With over a decade of experience, she's worked on a wide range of scopes on projects in Utah, Texas, Colorado, California, and even Europe. Preconstruction services on the CMGC Frederick Douglass Tunnel South Approach Project are driving key engineering decisions before construction begins. Our team developed a full-scale wooden mock-up of the Knuckle in the Edmondson Arch Bridge to verify access points, refine tolerances, and validate sequencing for structural reinforcement and bearing connections. This process led to targeted design adjustments, optimizing steel erection and enhancing field construction efficiency. Seismic testing advances for the Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge with a 10-foot diameter, 125-foot deep test shaft. Burnside Bridge Partners, a joint venture between Stacy Witbeck, Traylor Bros., Inc. and American Bridge Company is leading this full-scale Bi-Directional Load Test to measure how the foundation responds to simulated earthquake forces. Load cell assemblies apply pressure to the shaft while specialized instrumentation records data on structural performance. This test is a critical step in designing the new Burnside Bridge, which will serve as a lifeline route during a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake. Working in the winter months can be tough, but our team is always ready for every condition. For the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway, it took precision engineering, creative problem-solving, and international collaboration to modernize a railway that has stood for over 125 years. The challenges were steep, literally. With 25% gradients, freezing conditions, and limited access to the mountain, every aspect of the project required innovation. Customized equipment, careful environmental preservation, and a project-first mindset across the team were key to success. The result was nine miles of modernized track named "one of the best winter rides in the world," designed to endure the elements and serve visitors for another 100 years. The Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Storage Replacement project is complete, marking a milestone in providing safe drinking water for Los Angeles. This effort involved a 35-foot-deep excavation, supported by a 9,000-square-foot tieback shoring wall, and the placement of 2,000 cubic yards of structural concrete to create the Flow Control Station. These four structures will regulate water flow to the Headworks facility’s reservoirs, ensuring reliability for residents. We are proud to partner with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power whose commitment to improving and maintaining critical water infrastructure aligns with our shared goal of delivering reliable and high-quality infrastructure for the community.
