Building a digital community can profoundly impact a nonprofit’s mission. In her article?5 Ways to Build a Digital Community that will Transform Your Nonprofit, Sarah Suarez of The Social Puzzle outlines key steps for nonprofits to create an engaged online community that amplifies their reach and drives change. Here’s a brief rundown: 1. Engage Authentically: Inbound and outbound engagement strengthen relationships—responding to comments and initiating connections with followers and like-minded organizations. 2. Share Inviting Content: Behind-the-scenes glimpses, authentic visuals, and collaboration with similar organizations create a sense of belonging. 3. Steward Supporters: Regular updates, gratitude posts, and impact stories on social media help nurture and retain supporters. 4. Empower Advocates: Supporters can be powerful messengers. Encourage them to share your cause to expand reach. 5. Know Your Audience: Focus on the social platforms most relevant to your audience to foster deeper connections. Following these steps can help nonprofits build a thriving online community that not only raises awareness but also deepens impact. https://lnkd.in/gjxgJkUM

???Feeling the weight of burnout???? In the latest episode of?Mark Brackett's podcast,?Dr. Jessi Gold dives into the complex layers of burnout, anxiety, and emotional regulation – essential topics for everyone feeling the impact of constant stress. While burnout is often associated with healthcare professionals, it reaches far beyond the medical field. In the nonprofit world, where passion often drives long hours, big missions, and high expectations, many of us find ourselves navigating the same emotional strains. Supporting the community can be rewarding, but it’s also taxing, requiring us to care for others and our own well-being. Dr. Gold’s insights offer practical ways to understand and manage these feelings, reminding us that caring for our mental health is essential for sustainable impact. If you’re in nonprofit work – or any role where you give more than you receive – this episode is worth a listen. Let’s learn how to keep caring for ourselves as we care for others. ?????? #Burnout #MentalHealth #NonprofitLife #EmotionalWellness #SelfCare

The path to voting rights has been long and hard-fought, especially for women of color. It took decades beyond the 19th Amendment for all women to access the ballot equally. Today, as we reflect on their struggles, we honor their legacy by continuing to work toward an inclusive, equitable voting system for everyone. While the 19th Amendment, ratified in 1920, technically granted women the right to vote, it didn't ensure voting rights for all women. Many women of color continued to face barriers due to discriminatory state and federal laws. ?? 1920 – White women gained the right to vote with the 19th Amendment. However, Black, Indigenous, Asian American, & Latinx women continued to face barriers. ?? 1924 – Native American women were granted citizenship with the Indian Citizenship Act (Snyder Act), but many states barred them from voting through discriminatory state laws until 1962. "Native American activists like Zitkála-?á continued to organize and advocate with white mainstream suffragists. With the passage of the Snyder Act in 1924, American-born Native women gained citizenship. But until as late as 1962, individual states still prevented them from voting on contrived grounds, such as literacy tests, poll taxes & claims that residence on a reservation meant one wasn’t also a resident of that state." ?? 1935 – In Puerto Rico, literate women, including Latinx suffragists like Luisa Capetillo, gained voting rights in 1929, but universal suffrage for all women wasn’t granted until 1935. Discriminatory literacy tests remained a barrier for many. "Capetillo is considered to be one of Puerto Rico's first suffragists." ?? 1952 – Asian American immigrant women were able to gain citizenship, and therefore voting rights, with the Immigration and Nationality Act. Native-born Asian Americans already had citizenship in 1920, but first-generation immigrant women were excluded until then. " Asian American suffragists such as Dr. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee worked alongside white Native-born women in the years leading up to 1920; Ping-Hua Lee and others advocated within their communities and even marched in suffrage parades." ?? 1965 – African American women continued to face severe voter suppression, particularly in the South, due to poll taxes, literacy tests, & intimidation. Activists like Fannie Lou Hamer fought tirelessly, and with the passage of the Voting Rights Act, Black women secured their voting rights across the U.S. "Nobody is free until everybody is free." "The struggle for suffrage, which began for black women in the early 1800s, continued until activists such as Fannie Lou Hamer and Diane Nash won the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, 200 years later." ?? 1975 – A Voting Rights Act extension expanded protections, prohibiting discrimination against language minorities. This included Spanish-speaking Latinx communities and others who were excluded due to language barriers. Source: PBS.org, Not All Women Gained the Vote in 1920?
