  • As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for your generous support that has made a lasting impact in our community. Because of YOU, individuals and families facing hunger, homelessness, and poverty received the help they need. But as you know, our work is never done. There are so many in our community who need our help, now more than ever. Recently released data shows that nearly 150,000 children experienced homelessness on a single night in 2024, a 33% increase from the year before. Along with that was a nearly 40% rise in family homelessness. At SVDP, we work hard every day to provide shelter, housing, food access, and education to those who need it most. In the past year, we've helped nearly 1,500 people—half of whom were children. And with your help, we can do even more. Your year-end gift will provide life-changing support, and a chance for individuals and families to break free from the cycle of poverty. • Amy, a single mother of four, has made remarkable progress with the support of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore’s Home Connections program. "Having a stable home has made an incredible difference in our lives. It has not only given us a safe and comfortable place to live but has allowed me to focus on my personal and professional growth. While being part of this program, I have had a chance to work on my resume, become a medication technician, a certified nursing assistant, and pursue addiction counseling." As for Amy’s children, they now have a warm, safe home, educational opportunities, and even received holiday gifts through our Adopt a Family program. At SVDP, we’re not just providing shelter; we’re empowering families to thrive with case management services, access to nutritious food, and vital programs like head start and summer camp. With just 1 day left in the year, your tax-deductible donation can ensure that families like Amy’s continue to receive the support they need. Your gift will help provide shelter, housing, food, and opportunities for more families in need as they work to rebuild their lives. Will you consider making a year-end donation today to help us reach even more families in 2025? Every donation helps provide families with the tools and resources they need to build a better future. • Meet Thomas. After facing the loss of his family and years of hardship, he found support through St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore. Thomas began visiting Beans & Bread—St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore’s comprehensive day resource program serving more than 300 people per day—for meals and socializing. During one of his frequent visits, he learned about SVDP’s Rapid-Rehousing program. Our team was able to locate a safe, ground-floor apartment for him so he wouldn’t have to navigate stairs—due to having cerebral palsy and a metal plate in his hip. Thomas became a client of Home Connections, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore's supportive housing program that supports individuals and families with disabilities. Home Connections helped cover a portion of his rent and utilities while also providing vital case management. Thanks to compassionate donors like you, Thomas was able to focus on other aspects of his life, and found work at a Royal Farms store. He is happy to have a place where he feels protected, safe, and secure. “This is where I want to be. This is permanent—for the rest of my life. I’m very thankful.” Your donation to our Annual Giving Campaign directly supports individuals like Thomas, offering food, shelter, assistance, and more for those who are struggling. Together, we can help get people off the streets, out of the cold, and into a place where they can begin to rebuild their lives. Will you make a difference today? 💙 #EndHomelessness

  • Since retiring more than 15 years ago, Benjamin has been going to his local senior center every day since the facility first opened. He loves the Healthy and Active Aging Program because it not only improves his mental and physical health, but it also plays a pivotal role in combating social isolation and loneliness. 'We all come here to move our bodies a little bit and to be with other seniors. But mostly, we come here for the friendships and to avoid loneliness.' Many of the seniors who come to the center live alone, and are not able to provide for themselves. And with food prices rising, these meals are often their only source of nutrition in a day. 'Food prices have gone way up, but our retirement checks only increase a little bit every year. It's hard for me too. You need healthy food to survive.' Coming together over a nutritious meal can be a lifeline to those who are hungry, or lack access to healthy food, and the meals provided to the senior center by SVDP’s Good Harvest Community Kitchen are a key ingredient in the seniors’ daily regimen. Benjamin and his friends are grateful for the meals from Good Harvest that boosts their health, brings them together, and helps them build connections. "The food is good, but the company we share is just as important." At SVDP, we provide over 1 million hot, nutritious meals each year to struggling individuals and families all throughout the Baltimore region because we believe that everyone should have access to the healthy food they need to thrive and succeed. As we approach the end of the year, your gift will help those experiencing hunger throughout this season and beyond! Click here to help us ensure that no one goes hungry: https://buff.ly/3BtnlWE

A special thanks to the Baltimore Police Explorers and their partner, Buddies Inc., for continuing their longstanding tradition of providing a complete Thanksgiving feast at Beans & Bread for over two decades! Swipe to see our donors spreading the holiday spirit, along with SVDP President & CEO, John Schiavone, serving meals on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Thanks to our generous donors, all the children in need have been adopted this holiday season.🤝💙 However, their parents are still in need, often asking for essential household items that benefit the entire family such as, toaster ovens, washcloths and towels, and bedsheets. Let’s change that—adopt a parent, and give them the gift of kindness and a reminder that they too deserve a joyful, brighter holiday. 🎁✨ Click here to adopt a parent today: https://lnkd.in/gjnRujFS
