Improvements to the Davis Landing Canal in Slidell are underway! Crews have completed dredging sediment and are now installing sheet piles to protect the area around the boat launch and Old Pearl River. The $2.2 million project will provide safer access for hundreds of boaters and prevent further erosion to the area. The initiative is part of 16 coastal protection projects undertaken by President Cooper's administration using federal funds.

Thousands of donated Christmas trees have found a new home protecting Fontainebleau State Park's coastline! Special thanks to our Public Works staff, Scout Troop 1, Mandeville High School students, park staff and other volunteers for all of your hard work!

St. Tammany Parish Government Offices will be closed on Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents' Day. The Department of Animal Services will additionally be closed on Saturday, February 15. Business hours will resume on Tuesday, February 18, at 8 a.m.

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month: Maria T. Robert, P.E.! Maria T. Robert, began her employment with St. Tammany Parish Government on January 22, 2019, as an Engineer II within the Department of Engineering, and was subsequently promoted to Engineer III. Maria is embedded within the Department of Planning and Development, where, as a Professional Engineer, she is instrumental in the review of all major and minor subdivision projects and drainage impact studies, along with the compilation of staff reports and agendas for Planning and Zoning Commission meetings. Maria consistently demonstrates an exceptional knowledge of St. Tammany Parish ordinances and regulations while assisting not only our residents but also design professionals across multiple states, as well as her own colleagues. She is also fluent in Spanish and routinely goes above and beyond her required duties by providing translation assistance for our residents, further enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of parish services. Maria is described by her coworkers as being a pleasure to work with, always bringing positive attitude and professionalism to the workplace. Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment make her a truly deserving recipient of this honor and an invaluable asset to Team Tammany.
