EMPOWERED: The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) organized an entrepreneurship workshop on April 17th as part of our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program. 💼🌟💡 Big thanks to Erin McFarley and Ronsha Brown for sharing their time, wisdom, and experience with our FSS participants! They delivered powerful insights on growing a business, from building strong foundations to scaling with confidence. Our participants walked away inspired, informed, and ready to take the next big step in their entrepreneurial journeys. ✨ The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is a voluntary program available to all participants receiving HUD Section 8 Rental Assistance or living in Public Housing who wish to improve their financial situation, eliminate their dependence on public assistance, and are motivated to change their lives. The program emphasizes educational and vocational training that leads to full-time consistent employment. SUMMER PROGRAM: SPC Next 2025 Summer Bridge Program will be held at the St. Petersburg College Midtown Center, located at 1300 22nd St. S. St. Petersburg, from June 2 - July 9, 2025, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. ☀️ Students will train for Remote Pilot Certification - Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS), focusing on becoming well-trained and safety-minded drone remote pilots. FAMILY FUN: The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) organized a joyful Family Night at Disston Place Apartments on April 17th. The event was a success, filled with fun activities and memorable moments. 🌟 We started the evening with a fantastic yoga session led by Alexis Billings from ArtsyAsana. 🌼 Alexis guided both kids and adults through a series of relaxing and energizing poses. It was a perfect way to unwind and feel refreshed. 🌸 Following the yoga session, we had an exciting egg hunt. 🐰 The children eagerly searched for hidden eggs, and it was heartwarming to see their faces light up with joy as they discovered each one. 🐣 Throughout the evening, the kids learned valuable lessons about mindfulness, teamwork, and the importance of staying active. PHOTOS: The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) partnered with the City of St. Petersburg to launch a youth basketball program. 🏀 The Rising Stars Midnight Basketball Showcase empowers local youth through sports, teamwork, and mentorship. The tournament was held on Saturday, April 12th, at the Thomas "Jet" Jackson Recreation Center. Thank you to our sponsors and partners who helped make the tournament a success: • S.T.O.R.Y. 727 - Provided coaching and mentoring support, and generously donated water and sports drinks for practices. • City of St. Petersburg (Lisa Wheeler-Bowman, Carl R. Lavender, Jr., Robert Lovelace, and Rev. Kenneth F.
