As prayers for Pope Francis and preparations for his funeral continue, St. Mary's marks the period of mourning with traditional black bunting. The community keeps its own vigil of prayer and celebrates the life of the beloved Holy Father.

As we celebrate Earth Day 2025, let us remember Pope Francis' plea for the urgent care for the world around us: “What [we] need is an ecological conversion, whereby the effects of [our] encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in [our] relationship with the world around [us]. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (Laudato Si', #217)

"The reign of life has begun, the tyranny of death is ended...This is the day the Lord has made--a day far different from those made when the world was first created, and which are measured by the passage of time. This is the beginning of a new creation. On this day, as the prophet says God makes a new heaven and a new earth." (St. Gregory of Nyssa, Fourth Century) May this Easter Day awaken you with the Spirit of the Risen Lord and bring us ever closer to God's new heaven and earth alive in the Peace of Christ. Rev. Phillip J. Brown, P.S.S. and the entire community of St. Mary's wish you a most joyful and blessed Easter.
