Welcome to St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS) where our four-year graduation rate is 93%. With over 17,500 students, our school system is large enough to offer a wide variety of academic programs and services, and small enough to maintain an atmosphere of friendliness, helpfulness, and personalized service. The Board appointed Ms. Donna Thorstensen as Director of Accountability and Reporting II in the Department of Accountability and Reporting. Ms. Thorstensen holds a Master’s from Towson University and a Bachelor’s from Lipscomb University. Ms. Thorstensen currently serves as Principal at George Washington Carver Elementary School.

The Board appointed Mr. Joseph Wysokinski as Director of Maintenance in the Department of Maintenance effective March 31, 2025. Mr. Wysokinski holds a Master's from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a Bachelor's from East Stroudsburg University. Mr. Wysokinski currently serves as the Acting Director of Maintenance.
