MSD provides wastewater and stormwater services for St. Louis City and St. Louis County.
关于我们
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) was formed on February 9, 1954, when voters approved the Plan of the District. MSD started operation and maintenance activities in January 1956 in an area roughly composed of the City of St. Louis and the portion of St. Louis County east of Interstate 270. Most of the remainder of St. Louis County was annexed by MSD in 1977. MSD is a public agency and is the only special district in Missouri created under a provision of the State Constitution. MSD's responsibilities include the interception, collection and treatment of wastewater, as well as stormwater management. MSD's current boundaries cover 525 square miles and encompass all of St. Louis City and approximately 90 percent of St. Louis County. MSD serves a population of approximately 1.3 million and has over 425,000 single-family residential, multi-family residential and commercial/industrial accounts. MSD currently operates seven wastewater treatment facilities, treating a combined average of 370 million gallons of sewage per day. MSD operates and maintains 9,790 miles of sewers. The age of sewers maintained by MSD ranges in age from less than a year old to 150 years old.

Many of our favorite Thanksgiving foods, like turkey, dressing, sauces, and baked goods are filled with hidden fats, oils, and grease. When you scrape off your plate, make sure the scraps end up in the trash and not down your drain. #KeepDrainsClear #Thanksgiving

On November 16, 1990, the Federal Register included a notice of promulgating the NPDES Phase I Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program, making this a major day in the stormwater sector. Since this time, thousands of communities, qualifying institutions, and other entities have developed MS4 programs and implemented millions of stormwater control measures collectively to address urban runoff pollution. Over these 34 years, the approach to addressing stormwater has evolved, as have the programs established to manage urban runoff. For the second year, the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) is recognizing National Stormwater Day to mark the progress made in the MS4 program and the gains made in the stormwater sector, as well as celebrating the diligent efforts of stormwater professionals across the country. Additionally, National Stormwater Day was established to promote the many stormwater awareness campaigns at the state, regional, and local levels that have the same goals as National Stormwater Day to increase the level of awareness of stormwater as a topic and a resource and to educate the public on the value of investing in stormwater management programs and infrastructure.
