Gateway to Reading initiative from St. Louis County Library aims to boost St. Louis' literacy rates. Using a research based approach, the Gateway to Reading program will provide a series of literacy workshops for caregivers and children, along with kits that can be checked out to work on reading skills at home. Thanks to PNC for funding this program.

We celebrated the new Great Southern Bank bookmobile yesterday at Parker Road Elementary in the Ferguson-Florissant School District! The event included story time with Curious George and a chance for kids to explore the new bookmobile, which includes approximately 5,000 books. This is the third new bookmobile to hit the streets this year!

Today we unveiled another new bookmobile! Thanks to Emerson for sponsoring the new mobile library, and Buder Elementary in the Ritenour School District for hosting the event along with Splat the Cat. The new bookmobile holds 5,000 books and will be visiting schools across St. Louis County!

St. Louis County Library established the Small Business Launchpad in 2023, an 8-week program to help individuals with previous state or federal convictions start and grow businesses. “They finally felt like they had somebody that was rooting for them." said Megan Phifer-Davis, manager of small business and information systems at SLCL.
