St. Francis Medical Center's Flag Raising Ceremony commemorated April National Donate Life Month. In partnership with OneLegacy, Southern California's organ, eye and tissue recovery organization, St. Francis has facilitated countless organ donations over a span of 60 years. From 2023 to today alone, 82 lives were saved through organ donation, 4,800 lives were healed through tissue donation, and 33 people had their sight restored through cornea donation from the selfless gifts of 37 St. Francis patients. As we fly the Donate Life flag this month, we celebrate organ donors, organ recipients, and all of you who honor life every day and provide compassion and support to those on the organ donation journey. Register for our free Car Seat Safety Check on Saturday, May 17th, from 10am – 2pm at St. Francis Medical Center, offered in partnership with Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Your child's car seat will be inspected by a nationally certified child passenger safety seat technician for proper fit and installation, expiration, and manufacture recalls. Thank you, St. Francis Medical Center community. Once again with your help, we were able to find family for the patient we shared about last week. Thank you for your responsiveness and concern. We were very happy to reunite this gentleman with his loved ones. We appreciate our friends and followers.

Not long ago we received a letter from a patient's granddaughter. She wanted to thank our team for the exceptional care we provided, and she noted each caregiver by name. Her heartfelt letter affirms the words of poet Maya Angelou. "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Our sincere thanks to the patient's family for taking the time to let us know that our care made a difference. It is why we love serving in healthcare and what we strive for each day.

Congratulations, Diane Rosales, Unit Secretary, 7th Floor, on being named our Winter 2025 BEE Award honoree. Diane was nominated by a patient's family who expressed how much they appreciated her friendly manner and assistance beyond their expectations. She helped obtain the medication a patient needed upon going home when the family realized that the original prescription became lost in the process. Diane patiently listened to their concern. She helped to get the prescription replaced and ordered at their pharmacy. She then followed up promptly with the family. The patient's wife said, "I can't thank her enough for going out of her way to help me and find something I was in need of. She took it upon herself to help us and showed me that St. Francis and their staff truly care." Thank you, Diane, for Being Excellent Every Day.
