Happy St. Joseph’s Day! ✝️ Today, we celebrate St. Joseph, protector of families, workers, and the Church. A cherished tradition, St. Joseph’s Table, began in Sicily when a famine-stricken village prayed for his help. Their prayers were answered with the fava bean - a symbol of survival - and they honored St. Joseph by feeding those in need. At St. Ann’s Community, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph, we carry on this tradition with food, music, and acts of service, including donations to support those in need in our local community. BLESSING OF ST. JOSEPH’S TABLE All-provident God, the good things that grace this table remind us of your many good gifts. Bless this food, and may the prayers of St. Joseph, who provided bread for your Son and food for the poor, sustain us and all our brothers and sisters on our journey towards your heavenly Kingdom. Through Christ our Lord.

  • The challenges faced by nursing homes have a ripple effect across the entire healthcare system. When they struggle, hospitals can’t discharge patients, emergency rooms become overcrowded, and critical surgeries get delayed -all due to a shortage of skilled nursing beds. At St. Ann’s Community, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for seniors. Caring for the Most Important People on Earth isn’t just our mission, it’s our promise. But years of inadequate Medicaid funding are making it harder for nursing homes across New York to stay open. Right now, hundreds of beds sit empty - not because there isn’t a need, but because there isn’t enough funding to hire the staff required to provide care. This affects all of us - our parents, grandparents, loved ones, and even our future selves. If you believe in access to quality care for seniors and a stronger healthcare system for everyone, now is the time to act. Watch this important message from St. Ann’s President & CEO Michael E. McRae, delivered to local legislators at the Annual Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE) Legislative Breakfast. His remarks highlight the financial crisis facing nursing homes due to Medicaid underfunding and the critical, widespread impact it is having. We need real policy solutions before it’s too late. Michael E. McRae, President & CEO of St. Ann’s Community, joined fellow members of the Alliance for Senior Care in Albany this week to advocate for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates and the protection of nursing home funding from New York State. As part of these efforts, Alliance members met with key legislators, including NYS Senator Samra Brouk, NYS Assemblywoman Sarah Clark - AD 136, and NYS Assemblyman Josh Jensen, to discuss the urgent need for a 20% increase in Medicaid funding and the prevention of capital cuts. St. Ann’s Community remains committed to advocating for policies that support high-quality care for seniors across New York State. #SupportOurSeniors
