Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood recently hosted the sixth annual Champions of Central awards ceremony at the Friendly Inn Settlement House, recognizing community members, partners and stakeholders. At the ceremony, 24 Champions of Central were celebrated for making significant contributions to the Central Community through volunteerism, collaboration and neighborly compassion. Getting in the spirit of Halloween, St. Vincent Charity Community Health Center sponsored a trunk or treat event in the parking lot of Joseph & Mary's Home for our neighbors Marion Sterling Elementary and William Patrick Day Head Start. Employees, former employees and friends decorated cars and truck trunks and passed out candy to the children. Sisters of Charity Health System’s new President and CEO Michael Goar joined the festivities as his favorite Minion. In addition to candy, children received a bag of healthy items – toothbrush, paste and a tooth brushing timer, lunch, a pumpkin to take home and a balloon animal. Adults received cookbooks with healthy and simple recipes, a bag of women’s necessities and blood pressure checks. Thank you to Cigna for financial support and for their presence at the Halloween event. Thanks also to our Central Neighborhood DJ Tyrone for providing music and to everyone else who made this such a successful and fun event.?
