The eight St. Olaf TRIO McNair Scholars who conducted research alongside faculty mentors this summer presented their findings during a poster session to incoming TRIO SSS first-year students. The goal of the McNair Scholars Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and St. Olaf, is to provide opportunities for students to develop the skills necessary to get into graduate school and complete their Ph.D.? St. Olaf TRIO McNair is a graduate school preparatory program funded by the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored by St. Olaf College. Nationally there are 200 McNair programs working with over 5,000 students. The goal of McNair is to increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students who participate in undergraduate research, graduate with a B.A., and enter and complete graduate school, with a specific focus on obtaining a Ph.D.
