It takes a team to remove a Vestibular Schwannoma, a rare tumor that forms where the brain meets the ear and can severely affect one’s hearing and balance. Just ask Baylor St. Luke’s patient Kathleen Gutierrez, whose world turned upside down in an instant. Neurotologist Alex Sweeney and Neurosurgeon Akash Patel worked together in surgery to remove the tumor near critical brain and hearing structures.
