?? Exciting News from St. Elizabeth's School! ?? We are honored to announce that St. Elizabeth's School has been selected as one of only six schools in Denver to host a site visit during the upcoming NAIS People of Color Conference this December! As the largest annual gathering of independent school educators focused on equity, inclusion, and educational excellence, this prestigious event will bring together over 7,000 participants. This recognition celebrates the incredible work of our community and leadership team, including Amber Hornbacher, Head of Lower School, and Jamika McNally, Director of Admissions, who serve on the conference planning committee. Registration for our site visit filled up within the first week, reflecting nationwide interest in our innovative tuition model and mission-driven approach to education. Adding to the excitement, our school choir, under the direction of Emily Branam, will perform at the conference on December 6th. They’ll present the inspiring “Each of Us Has a Light” and the original hip-hop piece “Lead the Way,” composed by St. Elizabeth’s parent Saxon Kincey (Old Man Saxon). We are proud to share our mission, students' talents, and unique vision with educators from across the country. Thank you for supporting the work that makes moments like this possible! #NAIS #POCC2024 #EquityAndInclusion #IndependentSchools #EducationInnovation

At St. Elizabeth's, we believe Halloween should be a fun, creative experience for all! Our Head of School recently shared some guidance on choosing costumes that reflect our core values of respect and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and valued in our community. Here are a few key reminders for families and students as they prepare for Halloween: 1. Respectful Choices: Choose costumes that are free from stereotypes and avoid cultural appropriation. We encourage families to avoid costumes that may unintentionally misrepresent or mock a specific group. 2. Thoughtful Dialogue: Not sure if a costume is appropriate? We’re here to help foster understanding through open conversations. Asking questions and learning together strengthens our shared values and makes our community even stronger. We’re excited to celebrate a Halloween that embodies the spirit of inclusion at St. Elizabeth's. ?? What does an inclusive Halloween mean to you or your community? At St. Elizabeth's School, we believe that the success of our students starts with a strong partnership between families and educators. Our upcoming caregiver/teacher conferences are a vital part of that connection, and our teachers have dedicated countless hours preparing for these meetings. They are excited to celebrate each student’s learning journey and work with families to continue supporting their growth both in and out of the classroom. We are passionate about family involvement because when you choose St. Elizabeth’s, your entire family becomes part of our community. We believe that building strong, inclusive relationships with caregivers is key to fostering an environment where every student thrives. As one parent recently shared, "St. Elizabeth’s doesn’t just teach our children—they teach us as a family how to be part of something bigger, and that sense of belonging is invaluable." How does your school engage families and caregivers to create a vibrant, inclusive community? We are excited to announce that St. Elizabeth's has adopted Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) as our new K-5 curriculum! The EL Education curriculum is built on the Science of Reading, empowering all students to read complex, grade-level texts and master literacy standards. With a focus on structured phonics, it ensures equitable outcomes for all students, allowing them to thrive academically. This curriculum offers more than just literacy—it builds deep knowledge through content-rich, authentic texts on real-world topics, including social studies, STEM, and literature. Students are encouraged to leverage their learning for social justice and environmental stewardship, while developing the habits of character that will help them contribute to a better world. A key component of EL Education is the K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block, a one-hour structured phonics block based on the Phase Theory of Dr. Linnea Ehri. This approach ensures that by the end of grade 2, students possess the foundational reading and writing skills needed to navigate grade-level texts independently, addressing both Reading Foundations and Language standards. We are thrilled to offer this robust, comprehensive curriculum that not only strengthens literacy but fosters a love for learning and a commitment to character building. #ExpeditionaryLearning #ScienceOfReading #StructuredPhonics #EquityInEducation #SocialJustice #EnvironmentalStewardship #StElizabethsSchool #HabitsOfCharacter

At St. Elizabeth's, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in creating a supportive and nurturing environment where every student, staff member, and family can thrive together. Ms. Cowans, one of our dedicated teachers and a parent in our community, shared her experience of what makes St. Elizabeth’s so special: “Being part of a small, inclusive school community is truly a gift as both a teacher and a parent. The support from our incredible administrative staff creates a foundation that allows everyone to thrive. They go above and beyond to ensure that each student, family, and staff member feels heard, valued, and supported. It’s heartwarming to witness the happiness and love that fills our school, from the students helping one another to the families who actively contribute to creating a nurturing environment. My own children come home with stories of academic accomplishments, compassion, kindness that reflect the care woven into our community. As a teacher, it’s amazing to see students grow in confidence, collaboration, and empathy every day, knowing that they’re surrounded by people who genuinely want them to succeed. The connection between our families, students, and staff makes this community a truly special place where everyone can flourish together. I feel forever grateful to not only be a staff member and parent of this amazing community.” At St. Elizabeth's, we’re committed to making sure everyone feels heard, valued, and supported. This is what makes our school a place where people can grow, connect, and succeed together. #InclusiveCommunity #ThrivingTogether #StElizabethsSchool #SafeSpace #TeacherLife #SchoolCommunity
