Community is a core value at SSM Health - something that our teams take to heart. As part of our commitment to the health of our communities, SSM Health has a dedicated focus to improving food security for our patients and community members. Many of our regions offer programs that give patients in need shelf-stable groceries upon discharge. In St. Louis, we partner with the St. Louis Area Foodbank to host routine, free food distribution events. One recent event provided 184 households consisting of 595 individuals with 256 of those being under the age of 18 with fresh food.

One of the values of SSM Health is excellence. Learning is key to improving clinical skills. Our clinical education department in Midwest City, Oklahoma, recently hosted a nursing skills fair. They provided several stations for hand-on practice for nurses to learn about different equipment and test out the virtual reality nursing headsets.

Commitment to our community is a hallmark of SSM Health’s Mission. That’s why we’re joining with BJC Health System and the James S. McDonnell Foundation to invest in the St. Louis Community Credit Union, providing loans to underrepresented businesses in the region.
