Today, our team in Vancouver had the honor of welcoming the first cruise ship of the 2025 Alaska season—the Disney Wonder—to the Canada Place Cruise Terminal! This marks the official kickoff of what is expected to be another strong season in Vancouver, with 301 scheduled cruise ship calls and more than 1.2 million passengers expected to pass through the terminal in 2025. Leading the charge this season is Elise Ferguson, Vice President of Canada Place Cruise for SSA Marine, along with her all-women management team, who oversee the terminal's day-to-day operations on behalf of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. ? Here’s to the women who lead, inspire, and continue to pave the way for future generations of change-makers! ? #IWD2025 #WomenInLeadership #WomenInMaritime #AlaskaSeason #VancouverCruise #BreakingBarriers #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #CruiseIndustry #InternationalWomensDay

It was an honour to attend the unveiling of ‘Oceans Together,’ a stunning Indigenous mural at the BC Maritime Employers Association Dispatch Centre. This meaningful project reflects the maritime sector’s commitment to reconciliation and cultural recognition. Congratulations to BCMEA and artist Darryl Blyth on this important milestone!
We are excited to share that a new Indigenous mural commissioned for the BCMEA Dispatch Centre was unveiled in a Musqueam-led ceremony yesterday. This mural project was undertaken as part of the BCMEA’s commitment to elevate efforts on the path to reconciliation, in recognition of the principles in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Call to Action #92.? Designed by Musqueam artist Darryl Blyth, the artwork titled “Oceans Together” has transformed the BCMEA Dispatch Hall’s outdoor space into a symbol of unity, promoting inclusivity, well-being, and cultural safety.?? We are grateful to have received guidance of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations on this project —whose traditional lands and waterways are central to the heritage we honour and where our Dispatch Centre operates.? The mural contributes to the BCMEA’s and our members ongoing dedication to advance reconciliation, acting as a visual reminder to encourage all to engage and learn about Indigenous contributions to the maritime sector. It represents the legacy of the maritime industry and our shared commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates the interconnectedness of our communities and the importance of honoring Indigenous peoples as we work towards a shared future. This past weekend, our Squamish team was out in force supporting Coldest Night of the Year as the Rest Stop Sponsor! Despite the wet (but not too cold) weather, everyone braved the night to raise over $92,000 for Squamish Helping Hands Society. Walking together in the chill gave participants a deeper understanding of life on the streets during winter while supporting essential community programs. Thank you to all who took part! #CommunitySupport #ColdestNight #Squamish
