We’re proud to partner with SR3 to deliver top-tier, scenario-based training for our parapublic teams. While equipment is important, realistic training is the key to mission success. Together, we’re elevating safety, performance, and readiness for every mission. #DavenportAviation #SR3 #MissionReady #Parapublic #ScenarioBasedTraining
It's rare that we share in-depth training videos online as it is so easy for viewers to take things out of context and make assumptions. However today we're pulling back the curtain and giving you a look at a full swiftwater hoist training evolution from our recent class with Riverside County Sheriff's Department, including pilot debrief points from Dave Callen in the front and from hoist operator instructor Rob Munday in the back. The swiftwater environment is a dynamic one, and theres a couple of points that we wanted to make sure we mentioned along with this video for clarity and context. We hope you enjoy. - The area was pre-scouted before we commenced training to check for obstacles, we're also deliberately using a section of river with no downstream hazards below the work site - if we abort the evolution, the students simply wash into the pool you see at the end of the sequence. - We're big fans of training (safely) to the most challenging level possible, that way, when our clients are faced with these situations in the real-world, it wont be the first time they've seen it. - We hear it time and time again, our clients enjoy our teaching style, we don't try and take over, we don't raise our voices, we let students learn, even if it's by sometimes making mistakes. This is clearly shown in the video. - There's many different ways to accomplish this evolution, many of them are "right", there is certainly ways this particular sequence could have been done differently, by all means let's have a discussion on that, but keep in mind that this is just one sequence from a full week-long class. -Prior to this class our students had not performed hoist rescues in moving water, at all. They progressed a huge amount in such a short period of time, we're proud of them, and they will continue to improve, but we know we have built them a solid foundation. Great job to the entire RSO crew, and thank you to Mike Calhoun for putting together such an awesome video!
