If you’re interested in using SQLite, but don’t know where to start, we recommend this excellent video from youtuber anthonywritescode! You’ll learn how to create your first database, write your first queries, and interact with the SQLite CLI. Check it out here ?? https://lnkd.in/gSWchV5N #sqlite #sqlitespotlight

Making Money in Open Source? Richard Hipp Did It. And he built the most widely deployed database in the world doing it. In my interview with Richard Hipp, the creator of #SQLite, we talked about something that most developers don’t believe is possible—turning open source software into a sustainable business. Richard didn’t just create a wildly successful project—he built a full-time business around it. → SQLite started as a simple solution to a problem. → It grew into the default database for billions of devices. → Now, a small but mighty team maintains it full-time—profitably. And here’s the kicker: Nobody on his team had formal database training. Why? Because simplicity scales. The real challenge isn’t building something complex—it’s keeping it simple, usable, and valuable enough that businesses will pay for it. The episode is now live on YouTube, Spotify, and your favorite podcast app. What do you think? Can open source really be profitable, or is SQLite an outlier? Drop your thoughts below. ?? #OpenSource Hostinger A2 Hosting #SQLite #BusinessOfTech DNSFilter #TechLeadership #SoftwareEngineering SQLite Cloud #dnsUNFILTERED

SQLite is a masterclass in software design. This excellent guest lecture from SQLite creator Dr. Richard Hipp dives into the technical reasoning behind the library. - Explore the full SQLite stack, from parser to OS interface. - Learn about how WAL mode was implemented? - Understand how massive SQLite tables are organized within a single file. This talk is required watching for any systems-level software engineer! Check out the talk here ?? https://lnkd.in/gSVgPY6X #sqlite #sqlitespotlight

When should you choose SQLite over PostgreSQL? In a recent video, Martin Baun makes the case that SQLite’s simplicity and performance characteristics mean it should be your default. Only when you need high write throughput, multi-service connectivity, and simultaneous writes should you shift to Postgres. Thankfully, SQLite Cloud brings all these features to SQLite! Start development with SQLite and seamlessly move to production with SQLite Cloud. Check out Martin’s video and (and excellent channel) here! ?? https://lnkd.in/gcbs9BNs #sqlite #sqlitespotlight

SQLite isn't your traditional database engine - it's a compiler that transforms SQL into bytecode! This design choice is why SQLite is so portable and efficient. No separate server process or client-server architecture to manage, just SQL compiled and executed within your application. If you’re interested in the design philosophy of SQLite, we recommend checking out this excellent video from creator Tom Delalande! I was on the "How AI Is Built" podcast recently to talk about sqlite-vec, on-device vector search, and more — check it out!
Working to make AI boring (predictable, reliable, safe). CEO @AISBACH | Host How AI Is Built | xTUM, xNYU
"I'm a SQLite guy. I use SQLite for a lot of projects... I want an easier vector search thing that I don't have to install 10,000 dependencies to use.” SQLite powers nearly every app on your phone. It's the database inside your web browser, your messaging apps, and countless other applications. It’s bundled into Python. It’s one install for Ruby and Node. The magic is in simplicity. One file to backup, move, or version. No complex deployment. No state management headaches. But up until recently search in SQLite was restricted to keywords. Now we can build semantic search and hybrid search right into a local database. Instead of growing a massive central database: - Each device maintains its own search index - Computation happens on user hardware - Results are instantaneous with no network delay - Private data never leaves the device It shines for consumer or privacy-sensitive applications (e.g. medical). Today, Alexander Garcia, the creator of sqlite vec shows us How AI Is Built on the user’s device. We talk about how sqlite-vec works, the optimal use-cases, and how to optimize it for your use-case. Full episode in the comments. ?? Repost for privacy-aware search ??
