SQEP WELCOMES ZOE JOHNSON! We are continually investing in our Cyber department and the team within it. Over the last few months, you may have noticed that we have recruited quite a few ‘Cyber SQEP’s’. We are pleased to announce that this month Zoe Johnson will be joining our expert team of cyber professionals! Zoe Johnson brings with her a wealth of experience in this fascinating field. During her career to date, she has spent 5 years as a civil servant in the UK MOD, working in the Cyber Defence and Risk Directorate (CyDR). Here she swatted up on cyber risk geekery and collaborated with military personnel across the whole force. In Zoe’s words: “I’m very excited to be here amongst like-minded nerds, defending the UK one capability at a time! I actually applied to join the Army as a teenager and was rejected on medical grounds, so this way I feel like I’m still doing my bit (from the warm safety of my desk).” If you’d like to discuss your programme requirements, please get in touch. #Cyber #SQEP #WomenInDefence

SQEP REPORTS FROM GLOBAL DEFENCE HELICOPTER 24... SQEP Ltd attended the 11th Global Defence Helicopter 24 in Warsaw last week – an event that brings together industry leaders, defence experts and key decision-makers to discuss the future of rotary-wing capabilities and address the most critical issues across the defence sector. The range of talks were fascinating, and of course, highly pertinent in the current geo-political climate. There were three that we were particularly keen to take in: 1?? Capability growth in the German Air Force rotary fleet and the integration of the CH-47F capability We sense this strategic addition isn’t just about upgrading aircraft, but a commitment to operational versatility, enhanced lift capacity, and increased support for both national and #NATO missions. 2?? Sweden’s talk on their current rotary fleet, embracing change and NATO membership This was a powerful presentation on how Sweden is not only strengthening its national defence but also embracing a collaborative approach to security within the Euro-Atlantic community. The future is bright for Sweden’s helicopter fleet as it adapts to new roles and responsibilities in a changing global landscape. 3?? Lessons from #Ukraine There were some interesting discussions around the use of rotary aircraft in Ukraine and the effectiveness of Russian tactics and Defensive Aids versus aircraft losses. ? ?? Our key takeaway? In today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape, collaboration is more essential than ever, particularly for rotorcraft mission sets where they are so often operating hand-in-hand with allied ground forces. However, effective collaboration in the battlespace requires a much higher level of #interoperability than allied forces currently enjoy. We’re watching the progress of programmes such as the UK’s New Medium Helicopter (#NMH) and NATO-led Next Generation Rotorcraft Capability (#NGRC) – which have both prioritised commonality and open systems architecture within their requirements – with interest. In summary, this was a fascinating and invaluable contextual deep-dive into the rotary-wing domain. #Helicopter #Future?#Collaboration #Defence Images from Defence Leaders. The aerospace sector is advancing today more rapidly than ever.?We’re on the cusp of a new era in aviation that will see new vertical lift aircraft, electric propulsion and hybrid rotary wing platforms entering service alongside new supersonic transport aircraft, air taxis operating in and around our cities, and military fleets of mixed crewed/uncrewed systems. It’s all very exciting, but someone has to ensure that these advances are airworthy and can be operated safely. Today, we hear from one of the most experienced – and revered – experts in the field, Vin Thomas, to find out a bit more about the critical role of #Airworthiness and #Certification Engineers in aerospace. ???????? ???????? ???? ????????/ ????????????????/?????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???????????????? ????? My main work within SQEP Ltd is in the Certification domain working on the Chinook Sustainment Programme.?Here I have worked as a Reviewer of Type Certification, Air Vehicle Requirements and the Component Qualification Matrix.?More recently I have become involved in SQEP’s contract supporting the Hawk DT. ???????? ???? ?? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ???????????????? ????????????/??????????????????? ???????? ????????, ‘????????’ ?????????? ?????? ????????????????, ?????????????? (????????), ?????????????????? (??????????????) ?????? ??????????????! Team SQEP enjoyed their second Away Day of the year in the beautiful setting of De Vere Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire. The main theme was indeed our #Purpose ... our Raison d’être… or as the Japanese say, our Ikigai 生きがい It was an opportunity for the team to be updated on our: 1??Strategy 2??Mission 3??Financials 4??Delivery successes 5??Diversification and growth goals And of course, our chosen charity – Children with Cancer UK. It was also an opportunity to meet some of our new SQEPs! Between business discussions and dinner, some of the more daring SQEPs went wild water swimming while others opted to swim indoors / visit the gym / run in the grounds - or have a sociable drink in the bar. A big thanks to Mr. Richard Brewster for his administrative prowess in organising such a successful event. We look forward to the next one! #WeAreSQEP #Wellbeing #Teambuilding #Purpose #Veterans #ChildrenWithCancerUK

For our next instalment of our ‘Day in the Life’ series we delve into the #Environmental?sector where we meet up with Senior Environmental Consultant, Geoff Eyre-Walker. Geoff plays a vital role in advising and aiding organisations to become fully compliant with environmental regulations. Through his rigorous assessments he identifies risks and helps them to develop sustainable practices whilst remaining profitable and efficient. ? ????, ??????????, ?????? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ???????? On a day-to-day basis, I am able to work with very talented and knowledgeable people (colleagues and clients alike). This has supported my own professional development, and having access to such knowledge supports delivery of our objectives. If I do not know something that supports delivery of work, then there is a very good chance I work with someone who does! Since starting with SQEP, I have been afforded the opportunity to see some really interesting equipment up close, which is definitely a perk of the job, and supports the understanding of the equipment whose environmental footprint is being managed.?? ? ?????? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?? ?????????????? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ?????????? Perhaps this is another perk of the job, there is not really ‘a typical day’ which is similar to the previous days. ? ???????? ???????? ???? ????????????????/?????????????????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ?????? Much of my effort at the moment goes towards providing environmental management support to a major MOD procurement programme. This entails the implementation, and eventually the maintenance, of a defence procurement specific Project Orientated Environmental Management System (POEMS). This includes frequent communication with stakeholders regarding environmental responsibilities and information, with the outcome of the management system being the minimisation of environmental risks and impacts. Additionally, I provide environmental management support, particularly pertaining to Hazardous Substances and Restricted Materials (HSRM) to an OEM in the delivery of a system to the MOD. I have also undertaken SQEP Ltd’s carbon emissions benchmarking for the companies first reporting of its carbon emissions. This is something I look forward to developing in future reporting years, and will provide a quantitative benchmark to measure our future carbon emissions against.
