We know it is incredibly valuable to charities to be able to communicate with their supporters and build long-standing relationships which is why it was important to deliver this new feature.

We’re also particularly excited to launch this in the lead up to the festive season and ahead of our Christmas campaign - launching at the end of September.

This upgrade offers a great opportunity for charities to show their appreciation and nurture relationships with the individuals behind the business.?Helping to nurture relationships and spur small businesses on with their sales-based fundraising campaigns.

What’s more the feature has already been a hit with small businesses!?

58% of small businesses who’ve pledged their support to charity since the feature’s launch on 2nd September 2021 have opted in to receive news from their favourite charities

The marketing opt-in has been added to the donations form and charities will receive the name and email address of businesses who have opted into this marketing preference.

3 top tips to thank and engage small business supporters

  1. Appreciate & motivate:?Thanking supporters goes beyond just expressing gratitude; it is also vital in enabling charities to build meaningful and longstanding relationships. Send an e-card or a short video to provide a personal thank you, or highlight their small business fundraising on your website or social media giving them some well deserved acknowledgement, as well as encouraging other small businesses to follow in their footsteps (win-win)!
  2. Demonstrate their impact:?Sharing the impact of the small businesses fundraising is incredibly important. Not only does it provide a helpful example of how their contribution has helped the cause they've personally chosen, but it's also a vital opportunity to inspire them to consider donating again in the future. Try to relate the amount they've raised to an item of service that their support could have helped fund, so they can really envisage the effects of their support.
  3. Encourage sustainable giving:?Your small business supporters have expressed that they want to hear from you, so make it count! Sales-based donations are a vital source of sustainable income; so use this opportunity to get to know your supporters and understand their motivations for giving.

Work for Good helps small businesses raise sustainable funds for charity, through the sales of their products and services and takes care of the Commercial Participation Agreement, the legal agreement required for sales-based fundraising.
