Kate’s #DesmoidTumor journey began about five years ago when she had a scan performed for an abdominal issue. The imaging revealed a mass in her thigh. Multiple doctors’ visits later, Kate found out she had a desmoid tumor. Since receiving her diagnosis, Kate encourages others to advocate for themselves when it comes to managing their care. This past weekend, #SpringWorkers had fun participating in the The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF) Running for Answers Walk in Houston that seeks to raise funds to support DTRF’s mission to advance research, empower the community with information, foster connection, and fundraise for a cure. Thank you DTRF for hosting this event to bring together the #DesmoidTumor community.?

Growing up, Brooke saw her mother persevere through many challenges related to #DesmoidTumors, including undergoing 28 surgeries. In 2015, her mother passed away and then in 2021, Brooke was diagnosed with a desmoid tumor.?? ? Hi SpringWorks community! Lynne Hernandez, Executive Director of the The Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF) here, and I’m posting on SpringWorks’ LinkedIn in honor of Desmoid Tumor Awareness Month. I became involved with DTRF 14 years ago after a friend of mine was diagnosed with a #DesmoidTumor. Back then, information about this devastating disease was limited and there were no approved therapies. Together, we have made great strides in how desmoid tumors are treated and managed. Through awareness and ongoing research, we can continue to improve the lives of people living with these tumors. Let’s keep this conversation going during #DesmoidTumorAwarenessMonth.
