Tom Ballard (TakeHeart.rocks) has started a GoFundMe to raise $10,000 to to produce 9,000 heart rocks and affirmation cards, and ship them to Springfield City schools. ?????????? Tom visited Springfield in October to give presentations at the Foundation's Annual Reception and at Schaefer Middle School to share his story, his message of hope, and of course his heart rocks. This visit inspired him to not stop at just one school, but to try to distribute these hearts to all students in the city of Springfield. In honor of Veteran's Day, we would like to spotlight Waverly Glover, one of the first African-Americans in the country to become a certified public accountant, who is also a part of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, a founding member of AACF, and who created the Waverly Glover scholarship here at the Springfield Foundation. Today we are spotlighting recent Legacy Society Inductee, Barbara Parke Weaver. Barbara has always considered Springfield as her home, even though she lived away for almost 40 years. Springfield, like a magnet, drew her home. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1950 and from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1954 with a degree in speech therapy and audiology. Thank you, Barbara, for leaving a lasting legacy with the Springfield Foundation!
