Over 600 students from 19 area schools participated in the annual 7th & 8th Graders Go To Work program on Oct. 29-30 hosted by the Chamber and Missouri State University's Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning. Students explored non-traditional career path opportunities in the region and gained real-world exposure to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, engineering, hospitality and health care. Each business hosted between 20 to 60 students for the day, creating a schedule of activities designed to engage students and teach them more about the company and industry. For businesses, programs like this are valuable opportunities to educate the future workforce about industries as they consider potential careers.
