Last Thursday, we had the joy of celebrating Willamalane Park and Recreation District's Grand Opening of the Tiny Ducks Preschool! ???? This milestone was made possible by the incredible power of partnerships. The initiative began with a $500k investment from the University of Oregon and grew through the contributions of over 15 organizations, local businesses, and community leaders. ?? ? Thanks to these collective efforts, the program has: ? Expanded from 3 to 5 classrooms. ? Hired additional early education staff. ? Built a brand-new preschool playground. ? More than doubled its capacity. A huge THANK YOU to Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon, the University of Oregon ??, and our amazing partners at Willamalane Park and Recreation District for hosting such a fantastic grand opening celebration. At our monthly Chamber Roundtable last Tuesday, at the Springfield Justice Center, local business leaders joined forces with the @Springfield Police Department officers and Chief Andrew Shearer to discuss public safety and its impact on our community. ?? ?? ??♂? ??♀ Chief Shearer shared valuable insights on SPD’s priorities, including retail theft prevention and innovative initiatives helping keep Springfield’s streets and businesses safer. Attendees had the chance to ask questions, share feedback, and collaborate on solutions to support stronger businesses and safer neighborhoods. ?? ?? ?? A New Chapter for Downtown Springfield: Rivett Lofts Grand Opening ?? This week, we proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Rivett Lofts apartments, a key milestone in the continued revitalization of Downtown Springfield. Located at Main and 5th Streets, this historic building has been beautifully transformed by MASAKA PROPERTIES LLC, RYAN THOMAS CONSTRUCTION, LLC, and Campfire Collaborative: Architecture & Design, PC, blending historic preservation with modern innovation to create a vibrant, mixed-use hub. ????? We were honored to welcome local leaders from the City of Springfield, Oregon, including Mayor Sean VanGordon, City Council members Michelle Webber and Steve Moe, and other dignitaries, to celebrate this transformative project. Special thanks to Lane County Commissioner David Loveall, Managing Director of MASAKA PROPERTIES LLC, for providing a guided tour that showcased the Rivett Lofts' unique features. ???? The Rivett Lofts offer 12 two-story apartments, complete with balconies that provide stunning views of Springfield’s bustling downtown. ????? @Leadership Eugene Springfield: Public Safety Day was informative and inspiring! ???? Our Leadership Eugene-Springfield cohort recently dove deep into the essential work that keeps our community safe. ??? During Public Safety Day, participants explored the roles of our local law enforcement, first responders, and justice system leaders – learning firsthand about the challenges and opportunities they face. Key takeaways included: ? How collaboration across jurisdictions strengthens safety and expands resources ?? ? The systemic impact of law enforcement on youth, education, imprisonment, and reentry programs ??????? ? Insights into pressing issues like AI in policing, sextortion, and modern threats ???? The day featured inspiring conversations with police chiefs, the Lane County Sheriff's Office, SWAT team members, and @Lane County Circuit Court Judge Debra Vogt, as well as a powerful presentation on sextortion from the FBI. The cohort also got hands-on with equipment during tours of the 911 center and Eugene-Springfield Fire Station 2 in west Eugene. ????
