Over 1,165 Delawareans lack stable housing, with 64% unsheltered. Without accessible low-barrier transitional housing, many remain on the streets, driving costs higher in emergency services, healthcare, and law enforcement. Studies have shown that the top 10% of persistently homeless individuals account for over 60% of public costs. Low-barrier housing with supportive services such as Springboard's Low Barrier Navigation Center model reduces these costs while improving outcomes. Investing in low-barrier transitional housing will cut costs, improve lives, and create lasting impact. The Healing Arts Program at Springboard Delaware's Low Barrier Navigation Centers (LBNCs) is designed to provide residents with creative outlets that promote mental and emotional well-being. This innovative program offers a variety of artistic activities, including painting, music therapy, writing workshops, and other creative practices, all aimed at fostering self-expression, reducing stress, and building a sense of community among participants. The program is led by skilled instructors and volunteers who guide residents through different artistic mediums, encouraging them to explore their creativity as a pathway to healing. By engaging in these activities, residents can process their experiences, express their emotions in a supportive environment, and develop new coping strategies. The Healing Arts Program not only enhances the overall wellness of residents but also contributes to their journey toward stability and self-sufficiency, making it an integral part of the holistic support services offered at the LBNCs.
