The round was led by Owl Ventures, with participation from existing investors South Park Commons, Springbank, Coalition Operators, and Coherence Fund. Brisk is now used by 1 in 10 teachers in the US to save time across tasks like grading, lesson planning, and more. Today, we're launching Brisk Boost, our student-facing tool that empowers differentiated learning experiences and drives deeper student engagement with safe, personalized AI. Educators are constantly required to do a lot with very little. Teachers experience the highest burnout of any profession, with 55% saying they are considering leaving the profession. 1 in 10 teaching positions go unfilled. Teachers work 53 hours per week, seven more than the average working adult – with only 50% of that time spent in the classroom with students. Teachers and students deserve more. That's why we're proud to announce our investment in Brisk Teaching. Their $5M seed round was led by Owl Ventures, the world’s largest Edtech venture fund, with participation from our friends at South Park Commons and Coalition Operators. We led the pre-seed round last year and witnessed Arman Jaffer's insane velocity in bridging the gap between AI and the classroom.? Brisk integrates directly with educators' existing workflows, empowering them to customize texts, create content, provide draft feedback, and easily authenticate student writing. And with the recent launch of Boost, it allows teachers to embed AI-powered tutors, assessments, and activities into the content they share with students.? In just one year since its launch, Brisk is now used by over 500,000 teachers (1 in 10 teachers) across 30,000 school districts and has saved educators over 10 million hours to date.? The time for Brisk is now. Technology spending on AI productivity tools is increasing as an overwhelming majority of education administrators and leaders (97%) see the benefits, but only ? of districts report having a generative AI initiative. And this is the team to do it. This weekend I had the honor of joining AIG at St. Andrews for the AIG Women’s Open golf championship. Iconic institutions, steeped in tradition. But this weekend showcased the future as much as the past. Under Peter Zaffino’s leadership, AIG has worked with the R&A to elevate the profile of the Women’s Open, triple the purse size, bring the tournament to the world’s best courses, and dramatically increase the resources and support that the players receive. It was such a privilege to be a small part of this big and exciting story.

Congratulations to Springbank portfolio company Guardoc Health on announcing their most recent funding in Axios! This company, built by nurses for nurses, tackles the problem of reducing burdensome non-patient facing work for nurses while increasing compliance which can both improve patient outcomes and increase payments to healthcare institutions. Why now? We’ve all seen the statistics about nursing burnout. More than 30% say they may leave direct patient care within the next year. By the year 2030, 42 out of 50 states in the U.S. will experience nursing staff shortages. Care worker burnout and labor shortages is an economy-wide problem. This is the workforce we all rely on to care for those we love the most – and who allow us to stay in our jobs. In addition to their direct clinical work, over-burdened nurses have primary responsibility for the compliance audits required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. As the largest payer in the US healthcare system, CMS covers well over 100M+ patients who have 4.7B healthcare encounters each year that must be audited for compliance. Errors can result in care delivery mistakes that put patients at risk. For instance, with patient data living across so many systems, think of a patient with a severe allergy to penicillin whose chart was not updated with this information. A nurse without this historical data may treat a patient with this medicine, all because of a charting error. Errors also result in slowed or paused reimbursement (on average $40B per year across the industry) which puts facilities and nurses wages at risk. The current tech stack for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and other healthcare entities has not kept pace with the enormous growth in the system. And with 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, we desperately need to modernize these systems to support the increased healthcare interactions of an aging population. Guardoc is the first AI-powered SaaS platform to integrate with disparate EHRs to identify real-time errors, discrepancies, and gaps in clinical charting, enabling timely corrections and risk mitigation. Guardoc’s CEO, Hadassah Backman, has unique insight into the problem as a career nurse who previously ran a manual clinical compliance consulting firm – until she realized that she could automate much of the? painstaking work that she and her distributed team of nurses was doing. It was immediately clear that Hadassah was a total force with original product insights, a deep network within the buyer community and the ability to partner well with top Israeli NLP engineers to build out tools that seamlessly fit into nurses’ daily workflows. The early results from Guardoc’s beta facilities are exciting. Average charting errors per nurse were reduced by 50%, with errors that could affect patient outcomes reduced by 86%.
