    Sports organizations cannot predict who their next fans by only looking at their current fan data. Why? Because those fans are likely generational fans -- not Fluid Fans (who represent the future growth opportunities across sports). So how do you find Fluid Fans? You collect data on all sports fans and consumers with the predisposition to become sports fans. You model their behavior. Are they buying jerseys? Subscribing to sports podcasts? Making sports gaming purchases or collectibles? These are all signals that a consumer is likely one-step away from becoming a ticket buyer...and then a season ticket holder. We do this hard work at Sports Innovation Lab. Our models focus on fan acquisition metrics and retention metrics. We calculate wallet share and can project lifetime value. This work led us to predict the rise of the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) and develop metrics like Momentum Score and develop Propensity Scores. Sports Innovation Lab's Fluid Fan Graph includes transactional data that we can isolate down to the week of St. Patrick's Day. Using this, our analysts tagged a community of high-value St. Patrick's Day Celebrators, who we defined as “individuals whose spending at party stores, bars & restaurants, and/or alcohol retailers dramatically peaked the week of St. Patrick’s Day for the past three years." Then, our team created a dedicated segment for these individuals - St. Paddy’s Day Celebrators - and looked at everything else they spend on, what communities they are part of, and how they show up as fans of sports & live entertainment.
