?? Celebrating a Milestone at The Spora Institute! ?? We are ecstatic to announce the publication of our landmark research, "Evaluation of a Virtual Health Equity Training for Mid-Career Primary Healthcare Providers," in the prestigious Journal of Medical Education and Curricular Development. This achievement is a testament to our relentless pursuit of advancing healthcare equity and quality. ?? ?? Research Overview: Spearheaded by Katherine Roberts, EdD, MPH, MCHES, CPH from Teachers College, Columbia University, this research is a beacon of hope in our journey towards creating a more equitable healthcare system. Our focus was on delivering a comprehensive health equity and implicit bias training to seasoned healthcare providers. ???? Training for the Experienced: The study engaged 21 mid-career primary healthcare providers, each with a wealth of experience (over five years) in primary care. Their participation in this training was integral to their role in providing care via a telehealth platform primarily serving a diverse patient population, with a significant representation of patients of color. ?? Significant Findings: Post-training, we observed an encouraging increase in both knowledge and attitudes towards health equity (p<.001). The engagement level during the training was remarkably high, with only 4.5% of participants being distracted, underscoring the interactive and immersive nature of our training approach. ?? Interactive Learning: Our training methodology stood out with its emphasis on group-based reflection and discussion. This not only ensured an engaging learning experience but also facilitated a shared understanding and commitment among providers towards implementing equitable healthcare practices. ??
