SPOON nourishes children who are highly vulnerable to malnutrition by empowering their caregivers around the globe.

关于我们

Child health programs focus almost exclusively on prenatal care, breastfeeding and nutritional support to children through their families and communities. They do not reach the tens of millions of children living in orphanages and foster homes, nor children with disabilities who are so often kept isolated. SPOON exists to fill this gap. SPOON has worked in 14 countries since 2008, using tools specifically designed to accommodate the unique nutrition and feeding needs of children impacted by disability and/or institutional care. Our tools have been field-tested with clear and compelling results, drastically reducing malnutrition and life-threatening feeding practices in orphanages, foster care and community settings. Having expanded on early successes in Kazakhstan, which resulted in national changes in nutrition standards and diet, SPOON’s impact spans Asia, Eastern Europe, and the United States, expanding to Bulgaria, Zambia, and Ethiopia in 2016.

On the first ever World Day for Assistive Technology, we’re calling on governments to prioritize the needs of people who would benefit from assistive technology. Assistive technology (AT) refers to assistive products, and their related systems and services. Assistive products can facilitate people’s everyday actions such as their ability to move, communicate, and see better than before. Today, June 4, the International Day of Assistive Technology is celebrated for the first time. Watch this video to share the meaning and relevance of Assistive Technology (Assistive Technology) #WorldATDay #UnlockTheEveryday Assistive Technology makes it possible for all people who need it to evolve in their lives according to their dreams, but it also saves the lives of many of them. I want to bring here the technology for feeding people who have serious swallowing problems or other associated problems, which make it impossible for us to remain well nourished and in good health without their contribution. That is why I participate in the work of SPOON Foundation, which supports families to prevent malnutrition in their children with disabilities, or caregivers of children who are in foster care. I invite you to watch this video! #UnlockTheEveryday #WorldATDay #AssistiveTechnology
