STA hosted this year's #NorthwestTransitExchange, a regional conference started and attended by staff from agencies across the Northwest region of the United States and Canada. Attendees of the 2-day conference explored new ideas, addressed relevant challenges, and learned through case studies from local communities across the Northwest. Thank you to all participants for contributing thoughts and insights, and to all speakers for guiding these important conversations.

STA employees are getting involved with Connect 2035. We encourage all businesses and professionals to represent your industries and communities by taking our survey to help guide our region's next 10-year public transit strategy. ?? https://lnkd.in/gk4mgEPi
I was privileged to devote much of today to sharing with Spokane Transit's workforce the goals and candidate initiatives that are being considered for our next ten-year strategic plan, STA Connect 2035. Over the course of four sessions, we met with scores of employees from across STA's operating and administrative divisions about potential investments aimed at advancing our vision to connect everyone to opportunity. Through the course of each session, we used online polling to gather feedback on the priority employees assign to various initiatives, from investments in more passenger shelters, further planning and design of future High Performance Transit corridors, to improved operator restrooms and break rooms, and a variety of technology investments. It was interesting to see the alignment between the priorities identified by employees and those identified by our customers. Kudos to everyone who made today possible, with a special shoutout to Mike Tresidder who is manages this important project, and Brian Jennings who integrates the planning project into our broader efforts in community development. I also appreciate the entire Communications team led by Carly Cortright, PhD who orchestrated myriad logistics. More information on the plan, including a public survey (available through September 30!) can be found online: https://lnkd.in/gEfiyNeM

STA double-decker status update! #giddy ??
“Giddy” is probably the best word to describe the feeling as I toured Alexander Dennis' new double-decker bus manufacturing facility in the beautiful desert city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Spokane Transit’s 7 double-decker bus order was the first to hit the impressive production line, with an expected delivery of our first beauty sometime in December. ADI VP, Jason Steinbrunn, along with his highly skilled UK/US ADI team and their business partners at Big Rig Manufacturing Inc, were nothing short of impressive. They’ve maneuvered challenging market conditions to bring back this important transit vehicle option. I snapped pics of our buses in each stage of production – from bare chassis to staircases! A big thanks to the Washington State Legislature and the Washington State Department of Transportation, and most importantly -- the citizens of the Spokane region, for the funding package that made this transit system advancement a reality. The service efficiency and customer comfort improvements provided by these double-decker buses is only months away! Check them out in 2025 on Route 6 between the City of Spokane, the City of Cheney, and Eastern Washington University (Go Eags!). I also share my personal thanks with STA's Sr. Vehicle Maintenance Manager, Josh Stoddard, for his leadership and deep industry knowledge. We wouldn't be where we are without him!
