Spokane Workforce Council had the honor of hosting Washington State Senators Claire Wilson (Chair) and Noel Frame from the Human Services Committee at our WorkSource Spokane campus in late October. The purpose of their visit was to learn more about how our workforce system is partnering to use Economic Security for All (EcSA), which is a comprehensive initiative designed to ensure that all Washingtonians have access to the resources they need to achieve economic independence. SWC on the road! Jessica C. headed to Virginia to present on a panel at the SNAP E&T Forum this week alongside colleagues from National Association of Workforce Boards, Seattle Jobs Initiative, and San Diego Workforce Partnership. The panel presented on the power of SNAP E&T alignment and partnership with local workforce development boards. Jessica was also able to hear from a panel of Congressional staff on the future of the Farm Bill, attended a session on learning to liaise with Tribal Nations, and heard about potential philanthropy partnerships. That’s our Division Executive of Programs & Development for you—always making waves and doing great work, Jessica!

The SWC celebrates the accomplishments of these seven students and is in awe of their resiliency and fortitude to complete this training and ticket to opportunity in America. This English Language Learners cohort in partnership with Providence Health & Services and Next Generation Zone highlights the SWC’s commitment to providing opportunities for economic mobility and self-sufficiency.

What a week! We hosted A Woman’s Worth for a tour of our campus and continued with a visit to their location today. It was a wonderful chance to learn about their mission and history. We’re excited about our partnership, made possible by the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Community Reinvestment Plan. Stay tuned for more updates!
