关于我们
Spokane Regional Health District is one of 34 local public health agencies serving Washington state's 39 counties. The agency was originally established as Spokane County Health District in January 1970, when the City of Spokane and Spokane County merged their health departments. In 1994, the official name was changed to the Spokane Regional Health District to reflect the increased scope of public health services and geographic coverage. We have approximately 250 employees and serve a population of more than 400,000 in Spokane County.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. It’s a time to remember those who have been affected by suicide and consider the role each of us can play in preventing suicide in our communities. Much like pieces of a puzzle, suicide prevention is an effort that requires each piece of our community to come together, including policymakers, teachers, friends, neighbors, parents, and health care professionals, to prevent suicide, save lives, and improve well-being. Suicide impacts all of us in Spokane County, whether you've directly been affected by losing a close friend or loved one or indirectly by knowing someone who has. This month, remember that we all have a role to play in suicide prevention. Learn more about how you can take action at: https://ow.ly/KCTl50TfHJ4. #BeThe1To help save a life. We all have a role in suicide prevention.

Preventing the spread of HIV and STIs is where our Disease Prevention & Response (DPR) Team comes in! Kaely works specifically to prevent the spread of Syphilis, which has seen a 50% increase from 2022 in both the primary and secondary stages of infection. Educating our community and connecting with healthcare providers to encourage testing are just a few of the ways staff on our DRP team, like Kaely, work to protect those in our community from transmittable infections. In 2023, our Disease Intervention Specialists ensured that nearly 90% of all syphilis cases diagnosed and investigated in Spokane County were adequately treated. Kaely's team also works to provide those who might be at greater risk of HIV with PrEP. In addition, they offer new syringes to other at-risk populations to prevent the spread of HIV and Hepatitis B and C through our Syringe Services program. During the month of June, our DPR team can be found out and about at Pride Month events offering educational resources on PrEP and HIV/STI testing. We’re thankful for all they do to keep our community safe and healthy! #NPHW Learn more at: https://ow.ly/wvSh50R7NOy Celebrate National Public Health Week with us at: https://srhd.org/nphw
